i woke up this morning knowing it was christmas and knowing i would have a dvx100a. as i rush to the living room to check it out theres a canon gl2 sitting there with a wide angle, telephoto , and lots of accesories for the GL2. i was really bummed and told my mom cuase i put down on a list specificly what i wanted and she said that they no longer make the dvx100a so she got me a gl2 instead. im going to return the gl2 but im super bummed they dont sell the dvx100a anymore
 
I'm sure you could find a 100A at a discount, there has to be some stock out there... actually, that's a good question, what's the cost difference between the 100A and the 100B? What about the 100, what's it going for?

he told her "your son would much rather have a GL2 becuase it is the best camera ever for skateboarding, he just doesnt even know it, trust me i film for viva la bam. the he sold her the gl2 with like barely any accesories for 3600...such a ripoff
 
Dude, I worked as a cashier (full time) for four months to get my dvx. You're pretty insanely lucky either way. But yeah, return it and get the 100b for sure. The difference is huge.
 
im surprised the GL2 is even in stores still... for that price?

take it back and see if you can get her money back, and skip to a better dealer like EVS who wont rip you off..

sorry you had a bad surprise, but hey, thats one hella nice gift to be getting for xmas in the first place.


I remember my parents always screwing up on the list.. poor parents. you gotta know they are trying, but probally know nothing about it so they put trust in the "pros" at the camera store to guide them.
 
yeah i know, i feel bad for parents cuase they try hard to get the gifts and all and i felt like **** when i had to tell her she got ripped off and we need to return it to get the dvx. im really tahnkfull , i never said i wasnt. this is just gonna be like the gift of my life. im super luckey this xmas

Seriously, listen to yourself! Complaining about not receiving a $2500 camera for Christmas. "I was really bummed... I put down on a list specifically what I wanted" Wah! Wah! Wah! :cry: You greedy spoiled brat! You should be happy your family is fortunate enough to have gotten you a GL2.

You wouldn't know what to do with a DVX100 anyway. How do I know this? Because, if you merely wrote "DVX100A" on a list (did the list also include "a new pony") , then obviously this was not a well thought out (months of planning) purchase and you need to learn how to communicate better with your Mom. BUT, more importantly, you need to learn how to write/shoot/edit GOOD VIDEOS first! The camera is NOT important!!! The story is. Hasn't this website taught you anything?!?!

Sorry, but this post has ticked me off more than ANY other post on DVXuser. ...And I've read ALOT of posts. If I was your parent I would return the GL2 (and all of its incredible accessories), use that money to buy toys for all the orphans in town (and make you watch them play with the toys), and then go buy you a nice pair of socks. On the card it would read, "If you don't like it, get a job!"

Merry (Chris)tmas and be grateful for what you have ....or go watch A Charlie Brown Christmas one more time.
 
dude i do too know what im doing, and ive been editing and filming a long ass time and im only 16 years old and ive had many job offerings from 25 year olds in the film industry and ive also helped on music videos being played on mtv in europe and i am thankfull for what i have and i was super pshched when my mom said alooong time ago i could get my dream camera for xmas, but the only reason she got the gl2 was becuase she couldnt find the dvx100a and got scammed by some guy. ok. jeeze ur acting like u know me. and yes i did want a pony. jk

i didn't get nothing for xmas! hehe. although my parents help me with my rent and alot more stuff. but i do have a dvx100a that they helped me purchase a while back.
 
im sorry if some people are getting the wrong impression. im thankfull for everything i have becuase im a very blessed kid. but im just upset my mom didnt come to me first instead of blowing all her money. thats all.

I'm sorry dude. I'm 17 years old. I'm not much older than you, but you think you'd realize that right now, right here you sound like a whiny brat. Wow, way to brag about "getting job offerings from 25 year olds" as if their age makes you look incredible or something. It doesn't sound like you know what you're doing, because if you had, you would of known that the DVX100B had came out and you would have told your mother, to make absolutley SURE that she didn't get you the wrong thing. If you had cared enough to put the time and effort into telling her what you wanted instead of writing it down you probably would of gotten it. I can only imagine that you had a huge list of pointless sh@t for your mother to buy.

You must throw tempertantrums. Either way, I think it's more important for a kid your(our) age to buy things on his own, instead of relying on his parents, because before you know it. You'll have to buy it yourself. Be independent at least, it may make you proud, and maybe you'll even gain some stronger character instead of sounded like a rich brat.

im not a rich brat, ive been using 1 chip for years man. and im not bragging im just saying im doing good for my age being offerend jobs by adults and stuff i had tried saving before , but it never worked out. and i was more concerned for my mom getting her money back, cuase she works hard adn i would hate to see her get scammed like this. by the way, i knew the dvx100b came out by i was trying to save her money by getting the 100a. however, i did not know they had stoped selling it. and my mom told me to make a list so i wrote down exactly what i wanted. sorry if u think im a brat but im actually a real hardworking kid who is catching a break for once.
