Chris, I definately understand the way you are feeling. I would feel crappy myself, having to tell my mum that she brought me the wrong kind of VERY EXPENSIVE camera.
Now if you think you are young - getting a DVX at the age of 16, think again. I got my DVX100E just after I turned 14. Now the thing is that it wasn't even Christmas. It was mid-summer-holidays, and I had been on the look-out for a camera for a long-long time. I was torn apart between the XL2, XL1s with many accessories, DVX100A, DVX100E with more money for sound stuff, XM2 with many accessories and so on, etc. Just to mention it, this forum is what turned me into the DVX100E. We had just sold our car, so hey, we had like $12000 too much on our bank account, so hey, I could get a DVC200 for that price! After a lot of looking around for cameras, I found a used DVX100E with 200hrs on the heads, for the price of $3000 (new DVX100AEs cost $6000 here in Norway, a bit expensive yes). We went for it, met the guy, I tested it for an hour, making sure that everything was OK with it. The zoom ring was a bit loose, but the servo was still in good condition. I looked at my mum carefully, saying that this camera looks good, and there was no chance of a scam here. So we bought it. Ever since, my life quality has been raised further, even the video quality has been raised higher:cheesy: I have never regret it, the camera has made me some money too, my "career" just sped up like hell after a few months with it. People always look suprised when they see a 14-year old boy with a DVX running ang gunning, or with a boom mic, lights and stuff. Oh and also, the hottest chick in the whole damn district ran over to me and gave me a hug after my last screening, telling me she was sooo proud of me:engel017:
Now the point of all this is that you shall not witsh such expensive things for christmas, and hope that you will get the right thing. Be there when it is purchased, help you mum planning it, and where you are going to get it. Listen to experienced people, and not stupid moronic dealers just trying to sell you what no one else wants to buy.
Finally, of course you sound like an asshole complaining over that you got a GL2 instead of a DVX100A, because they are both great cameras, and you SHOULD be satisified. But I completely understand your fellings, and let's hope you get a refund, and get yourself a DVX100!
Good luck man!
