Underwater Free Falling

I have a huge fear of deep water. As soon as I saw that abyss show up, I had to stop it. The first 10 seconds were nice, though.

What is the heck was THAT? Straight out of Hollywood. I'd be surprised if he made it 100ft down diving that way.

I believe he held the record for Constant Weight Free-diving at 113 meters, just over 370 feet for those without the metric system.

WOW!!

Stunning video.

He may have held the record, but I got real money that says he didn't get anywhere NEAR that deep on the dive we just saw in that video. Not barefooted, and not with that 5# weight on his butt.

Yeah, I'm confused by all this. How can you dive like that with air in your lungs? And, if you have no air in your lungs, how can you dive like that?

Oh you can do it... but your rate of descent is SO SLOW without fins to get down, it's nearly useless to try for real depth. He would need to be moving at nearly 150-175 per minute to make this realistic. Anyone who's ever held their breath and swam down to the bottom of an olympic pool understand the rate of descent issue.

That 5# weight is just there to counteract his wetsuit near the surface. His body is neutrally buoyant in the water. Freefalling under water doesn't just happen.

Everytime I watch something like that, I find myself holding my breath...then I pass out!
How did it end?
