Two Beginner Questions on AF100

Only point I was trying to make is normally thats what people are referring to, is FF aka 5d or photo film. when you start saying the 25mm has a 80-90mm FOV, it confused people because everyone knows the af100 as a 2x crop. sure, its relative, but in these discussions on this forum, 99 out of 100 people refer to FF as 1.

The whole cameras as a basis is not the point, my point is that crop factor is irrelevant as the FOV is a product of the focal length and the sensor size combination, and that is the proper way to view it. Just saying it has a 2x crop factor everywhere confuses new users about the camera and their lens choices as they dont get it and ends up making the camera come across as making this "crop factor" thing as a major handicap of the AF, when it is the opposite if anything. The AF does not have a 2x crop to most motion picture cameras, only when compared to a FF still camera like the 5dmkII and VistaVision Film (which was used on like 5 projects total)... Thee whole crop factor thing confuses everyone, and only really makes sense for canon 5D shooters trying to work out what their 5D lens kit will look like on the AF (and even then it is a misnomer being referred to as "crop factor"), and people repeating only that it has a 2x crop only makes the confusion worse.

yeah, the FOV stuff vs actual focal length is confusing, but i dunno about other people (i feel like alot feel the same) i have a feel for what lenses look like at FF and so i always refer to FF as 1, people think this because the focal length on the lens is referring to FF or photo film, so whats why its such a big reference point. But i also use a redrock so thats how i think i guess. oh well, i get what youre saying im not trying to argue. just when i think of a lens on an af100 i think 2x, 25=50mm or normal, not wide and a 50mm=100mm making it a tele, not normal, like it is normally referred to.

Thank you all
