Turn USA GH2 into French ?

Hello Fellow Dvx-ers,

I'm new Here because it seems to be the best place in the world to ask my very technical question, I hope you might know the answer :)

I live in France. I'll be in LA next month and I d like to buy a GH2 + 14-140 there because the exchange rate between Euro and Dollar is very strong at the moment. (1,46 !) So it will be way cheaper for me. Problem is USA have 110Volts 60 Hertz electrical system which gives the NTSC video mode ( 60/2 = 30 ips). Instead, France's system is 240Volts, 50 Hertz which gives the PAL mode ( 50/2 = 25 ips). So I want to "French" it by doing so :

1/about the electrical problem : buy to Panasonic France a new battery and battery charger and just exchange them. Is it doable ? I'm afraid maybe it would ruin the camera, or maybe not but the battery is just a tiny different and dont connect exactly the same or something ... :s

Anyway if this doesn't work I'll buy an electrical transformer but I'd like not to have to.

2/about the video mode : is there a PAL/NTSC setting in the camera menu ?
If not could I just replace the american firmware with the french one ?

3/if you think of something else that I might have forgotten to consider in my "french"ing adventure, please let me know :)

If you can clarify these questions it would really help me in my project so thanks very much :)

4/for those who have read all this but don't know the answer, here is a little something so you didn't completely waste your time : did you know in Europe the PAL mode gives 25ips, so much close to cinema international 24ips that TVchannels when they show a movie don't even bother to translate the 24 ips into 25, so you are actually seeing it 4% faster than it should be ?

4- Oui, on savait.

There is no digital Secam, neither is PAL or NTSC. People are just used to call it that way, it's 60 Hz or 50 Hz.
