transfering raw files

Scenario:
Record to P2 card
Transfer in the field to firewire drive via 1394 host
Take firewire drive back to computer
Connect firewire drive and see several firewire icons come up on desktop
Open icon and drag contents folder and last clip onto desktop
It copies to desktop as contents folder and last clip.

So far so good. Now when I open FCP and open import P2, I can drag those two items into the viewer and see everything that was on that card and import it into FCP.

Now I want to store the files from the desktop to another drive.
Drag the contents folder and last clip to 2nd internal drive or external drive
A new contents folder appears in the drive but the last clip file is now in the new contents folder. If I try to drag that folder or anything in it into the P2 viewer for import...it won't accept it.

What am I doing wrong...I know it must be something stupid!

Why don't you create a new folder on the 2nd internal drive or external drive.

Name it p2ONE or something similar.

Drag the last clip file and the contents folder into that folder.

If the last clip file goes into the contents folder, simply move it to the next higher level.
