Trailerpark

Two weekends left of shooting. We've been shooting for about 11 weekends now, about 30 days total and we are starting to get tired. But we've been watching rough cuts as we edit and things are looking great, so we can't wait to really get in the editing studio.

So Benns room is a studio now? Puts a sexy swing on University Commons.

Okay so as a DVXuser group building activity, I'll post up some "anyone evers" I've encountered in the past few weeks while working on trailerpark:

Anyone ever have interesting color balance issues with refraction of light through multiple plastic windows? Hmm...

Anyone ever work with the American Humane Society and animals?

Anyone ever work with an ensemble cast? I forget all their names.

Anyone ever have the motor in your Letus die, and then have it come back to life, then die, then try to get in contact with letus with NO response? Oh thats a doozie on a feature... (still haven't heard a word)

Anyone ever sunburn your talent with HMI's? I think we did...

Anyone ever lose your mind while shooting for 24 hours straight?

Anyone ever forget about scenes you shot the first couple weeks of a production? I sure have.

Anyone ever rig up studio grid lights across two gobo's?

Anyone ever connect two 50 foot header cables to make a 100 foot header cable? (me neither, just curious)

Anyone ever have the brilliant epiphany that by using nd grad filters, polarizer filters and the right sunlight you can do wonderful things with the sky? Such as create a thunderstorm approaching on the horizion and call it B-Roll?

Anyone ever steal costume jackets because you didn't think it would be 20 degrees in April because weather.com lies and tells you sunny and 50?

Anyone ever learn electrics so you could wire up faux practicals wherever you need them for night scenes?

Anyone ever put a Jib on a patoon boat and boom it out over a rowboat in the middle of a lake? Me neither but thats what we are doing next weekend. Maybe you should check the thread for stories of how it goes.

Anyone ever shamelessly advertise your website to an online internet community?

Because Zacuto has been so awesome with donating their rig to us for production we made them a little BTS video and took some pictures. Now they are featuring one of our DPs (Andreww) in their video at their NAB booth. Check him out at the :55 mark here.

We have picture lock and are currently getting the audio ready for our June 7th premiere. Then we are showing at the Lake Placid Film Forum on June 13th. Russell Banks is going to be there to see it, as will be Richard Russo (Pulitzer Prize Winner), Courtney Hunt (Frozen River) and Paul Schrader (Taxi Driver). I am going to be a nervous wreck, but I am really happy with the way it came out. It is such a large film in scope, I think it should really impress people.

I have some time on my hands to answer any questions. Let me know your thoughts.

So while we have been working non-stop on audio, our assistant editors cut a trailer. It should be color corrected and posted by tonight, which brings the question:

How do you embed video into a thread? I will post a QT and youtube link, but I'd love to be able to embed the video like in the "Heart of Now" thread. I searched around but couldn't find the answer. Any advice?

Looks amazing visually. Really has a high budget movie look to it. But, to my untrained ear, it seems like it needs a lot of audio work. Voices sound different from clip to clip, some are echoey... it just doesn't sound as professional as it looks. But you said you're constantly working on audio, so I'm sure it'll turn out well. Great stuff.

Thanks for watching Hblack. Yeah the sound is rough in this version. We just had to get something out for the university so that they can display it before the year ends. The actual movie audio is currently in the mixing stage and sounds a ton better.
