Trailerpark

Have you guys made a feature before? how'd it go?

No, we've never made a feature before. What usually happens for this class is that the class breaks up into four or five groups which each make their own short film. Then at the end of the school year we have a screening of all the shorts.

This year we decided to try something different and combined our class into one big movie. While most of us have experience with working on the smaller films of the previous year, this is the first time we have tried to focus completely on one project.

You can watch the first in our BTS series by going here:

It talks mainly about the history of the project. We should have one up on locations in the next week or so.

The economic status of this country is really starting to take a toll on our fundraising efforts. But where there is a will, there is a way.

Also we are having our first open call tomorrow in Columbus. Hopefully we will be able to find an actor or two from that. We have three leads left to cast.

The open call went well. The other director, my AD, and Andreww were there and video taped them. We had some good luck with one of the roles and we have had two more auditions since with people we were recommended to. Those have been good as well.

Fingers crossed we will be completely cast in the next couple of days.

Just as a note, on most of your 'seated' interview setups, the person was on the right side of the screen... I'd have to look but I think on a lot of the BTS DVD stuff, they vary the location of the speaker. Also, they usually have something, almost anything in the background to break things. Obviously what's shot is shot... but it might be worth breaking things up for future episodes.

Thanks for the tip. The BTS crew is planning on more episodes and I will relay that note to them. I'm hoping once we actually begin shooting they will have a lot more interesting visuals at their disposal as well, sometimes they are really searching for good b-roll.

Thanks for checking it out though.

There should be a location scouting BTS coming soon. Word from the BTS crew, stick around. Also, stick aroudn soon soon for another super, super amazing equipment update. I know, I promised it a while back, but soon, it will be official. It snowed in Athens yesterday, this weather should keep up for our first shooting dates.

We begin shooting in 17 days. We are finalizing our cast, beginning table reads, and waiting for our trailers to get towed in over the next two weeks. Our equipment donations are starting to arrive.

It just hit me that this is going to happen. I am currently spending about 10 hours a day in a coffee shop with the other director and my dp.

And classes began. Say goodbye to my gpa.

Good luck with this guys/gals!!! I'm eagerly awaiting to hear how the shooting goes and how it all comes together in post!

New BTS video posted of our fall trip to Michigan in search of a frozen lake. The lakes are now quite frozen.

We start shooting Saturday night. Hopefully Andy will get on and have a nice big update on all the equipment we are using and have been graciously donated.

We had our first day of shooting last Saturday. Things went pretty well considering it was our first night shoot. The scene was a winter scene so the art department actually shipped in a bunch of real snow from the local ice rink and covered the ground with it. It worked.

Luckily it is snowing about 5 inches today so we should be safe for this weekend. Unfortunately this snow is keeping the movers from bringing in our other three trailers... We are starting to cut things close.

We'll keep the updates coming.

Okay so now all this snow we are getting may actually be a bad thing. At first it was great because it meant we didn't have to worry about bringing in snow but now it is keeping us from completing a lot of heavier art direction, like moving in our remaining three trailers or shipping in a ton of rubble that we need for this weekend.

We are the town of Athens pretty much smack dab in the middle of this mess.

First Screengrabs

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. We are bogged down trying to figure out the logistics of our upcoming shoots which include: faking a burning trailer, actually burning a trailer, and shooting a scene in Michigan where 8 of our actors run around on a frozen lake. Needless to say, a lot of planning is necessary for these things to happen.

Also we are participating in our schools 48 hour film competition this weekend so we have even more on our plate.

But without further ado, here are a few grabs from our first weekend.
