Trading in my Canon C200 for S1H

You can get the official Canon Speedbooster which makes the C70 effectivrly full frame.

I'm currently using a S1H with a C300 MKIII. Both the cameras are great. The S1h is reliable and robust and just works very well with great monitoring features. Its a great camera for b-roll on corporates or events. Like you I get asked to take photos by some clients. It's great for that and the AF works great for stills on my Canon EF glass. One thing I do miss is the ability to film FF 60fps in 4k. I find it crazy that Panasonic haven't implemented this in a firmware update. I also have to say I do feel it was a kick in the teeth from Panasonic releasing the S5 for half the price with most of the features. I still wish for another Canon camera to match colours in post with more ease. I will wait for a FF version of the C70. I know there were rumours of a C90 but we'll have to wait for that. The R5 is a great hybrid camera. You can run unlimited record time in 4k HQ to a Atomos. Might be worth considering?

Thanks for the info and feedback. I still follow this thread to see what opinions and input people have, and I've yet to offload the C200 and buy a high end hybrid. The R5 does look more interesting, but the overheating concerns me, as I'll often run 2 camera interviews for upwards of an hour to an hour and a half straight, break for 15 minutes and do it again. I wouldn't be using it just as a gimbal cam and I definitely can't wait on anything to cool down, which is where the rock solid reliability of the S1H is very appealing.

The S5 is very very interesting as well. It does appear to do most of what the S1H does, and I own a Ninja V if I want the full capabilities unlocked, but I'm never going to shoot raw on it. I don't shoot raw on the C300 III right now either. Ahhh, the choices are all just too good right now honestly.

i have a an r6 which is supposed to be more portable than the c200.

in reality if i want to be light and professional i want..
-xlr audio
-nd
-a way to see in the sun
-batts that last longer than lpe6

once I rig my r6 to have audio, store some nd, have an external batts.. its bigger and more painful than my c200 stripped down (just use the eye peice evf)

going to paid work with a dslr turns my stomach.

keep the c200

Couldn't agree more. I don't plan on offloading the C200 in exchange for the R5C. Different tools, yada yada. But having the features that the R5C has in the form factor that it comes in is pretty great.
