C100: Top handle 1/4" thread destroyed!

It wasn't really user error, though! I've seen people attach way more than just an articulating arm with nothing on it.

Ok no, I stand corrected, it was entirely my fault. Problem was that the screw was too long and I screwed it in too deep.

Confidence in build quality restored!

I've got a weird issue with the same thread on the handle. Mine isn't broken yet 9/10 of things I try to screw in won't but some things do. Very strange. Anyone have any issues with the thread on the handle? Should be just standard 1/4 20, right? I've examined the thread and it looks fine, just nothing seems to fit as if the thread it too big. Weird..

The problem is that the threads doesn't seem to go all the way to the bottom of the whole. My HPX250 and 170 aren't like that. The hole is entirely threaded through it's entire depth. On the C100, it's just ain't built stong enough. Also, don't put a screw that has just 3-4 threads or you will damage those on the handle.

Yeah but Even longer screws dont work properly. For example, the screw from my tripod plate works fine but another screw on a different plate doesnt work and is loose (both screws same length) yet both screws work with all my other gear that takes a 1/4 thread. And my standard israeli arm is completely loose in there too yet works fine with everything else.

Maybe mine is slightly dethreaded or something. I did buy it used mind you :)

Your first 1-2 threads (from the bottom) must be damaged. I have the same problem on mine.
nothing more than a cold shoe adapter should be threaded on the handle.
