Top 5 must have lens for a GH1?

Well, then. Good to know!

Hiya - if you referring to my previous (tongue in cheek) post, please assume the contrary... i.e. the adapter only lets you control your aperture *manually*, as there are no contacts, etc to transfer information between the body and the manual lens.
Only Olympus lenses apparently can be used on the GH1 - and the functionalities are not 100%...
Cheers

I agree this combo is very easy on the eyes. However I can't seem to figure out how to adjust my aperture. I'm using a Nikon G mount 4/3 adapter with the Nikkor 50mm 1.8 and my GH1. What gives?

Does anybody out there know the answer to this question?

1. The rumored 12-75mm OIS 2.5 to 3.3 Panasonic
2. 25mm 1.4 Panasonic
3. 85mm 1.4 vivitar w/ Canon Adapter

That's my main simple/budget list in terms of what I want and covers almost anything.

Nikkor 50mm f/1.4
Lumix G 20mm f/1.7 Asph.
Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/4-5.8 Asph.
Something macro...the 45mm "leica" if you can afford it.
Something long.

GH2 is rumored to have a 12-75mm f/2.5-3.3, that'd be a must have I'd say if only for the speed on the wide end.

Yes if that 12-75mm f/2.5-3.3 becomes a reality that will absolutely be must have for the wide end alone although it seems like it would be more than just a good wide if it comes to be - a very solid all around lens that you could really use in most situations where the kit lens just gets too slow too fast.

I have the exact same adapter from the second link you referenced. I also have the Nikkor 50mm 1.8 to go with my GH1 and I can't figure out how to adjust the aperture. Can you please advise.

Thank you very much,

Trey

You just need to turn the ring on the adapter that reads "LOCK <--> OPEN". The throw is not very long, so you need to turn it carefully to make finer adjustments.

This lens would totally rock. But I am worried about the focus ring. If it is fly by wire I think it is not so usable as I wish.

The Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 lens has it's own aperture ring, so you can use it instead of the ring on the adapter. If you choose to use the adapter to control the aperture on it, then you MUST set the aperture ring on the lens itself to f/22, otherwise nothing will happen when you turn the ring on the adapter. The only 50mm Nikkor that does not have an aperture ring and HAS to have the G adapter is the 50mm f/1.4 AF-S. All the f/1.8 50mm Nikkors have the aperture ring.

I've been building up my takumar collection slowly.

So for me at the moment it's

Nikon Tokina 11-16mm 2.8
Super Takumar 35mm F2
Super Takumar 50mm 1.4
SMC Takumar 55mm 1.8(Had this one kicking around since a kid on my dad's old pentax)
SMC Takumar 6x7 105mm 2.4

And of course the kit lens for RnG during the daytime.

sort of missing a little something in that range between the tokina and the 35mm, so I jut might snag the panny 20mm at some point for the lazy AF days or whatever but it's so sharp and contrasty that it would stick out like a sore thumb in my collection. So maybe canon fd 24mm f2 if I can find a decent deal on one. I like to try and match the colour throughout the set though.

I had zeiss contax for a while, then some voigtlanders, and now I am back to my takumars. They're not as contrasty as the other lenses so dynamic range seems to benefit quite a bit. They'll probably be my long term lenses for a while now.

I think having 35mm+50mm+55mm is little overkill at 2x crop :-)

I still really don't have good primes at wide end.
So,
Vivitar 28mm F2.0
Pentax SMC 50mm F1.7 (+sometimes Vivitar 50mm F1.7)
Samyang 85mm F1.4
Longer end is covered by zooms
Focal 80-200mm F3.5 beast (same as Soligor C/D)
Tokina AT-X 100-300mm F4

Vivitar Series I 200mm F3 will be added soon.

Samyang 8mm and 14mm lenses planned.
Tokina is also very good, but I am not sure.

haha I agree having all 3 is overkill. The 55 is just sort of mentioned since I've had it since I was a kid.

35, 50, 105mm makes a nice combo along with the tokina though. Plus I have a 7D to put them on as well.

35 is a nice all purpose lens. Just bought it waiting for it to arrive. Played with the f3.5 so I'm looking forward to the extra speed. A little soft wide open, but it's perfectly fine for HD Acquisition on a dslr.

I prefer the Tokina over the Samyang at 14mm and so if you can handle not being as wide as 8mm(unless you shoot a lot of fisheye) 11-16mm becomes quite a useful range on the gh1.

Just bought my first lens for the GH1... based on all I read here decided on the Pancake

PANASONIC LUMIX G 20mm F1.7 ASPH LENS + UV Filter

Bought the camera from thisisde1 from Taiwan so thought I'd also get a lens from him... $530AU Delivered....

Cheers

Set I'm saving up for now:

Nikon Nikkor 18mm f/3.5 AI/AI-S
Nikon Nikkor 24mm f/2.0 AI/AI-S
Nikon Nikkor 35mm f/1.4 AI/AI-S
Nikon Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 AI/AI-S
Nikon Nikkor 85mm f/1.4 AI/AI-S

Staying with the Panasonic lenses I have the 7-14 and almost never use it. (And probably my poor skills but I have maybe 5 pictures and no video I have taken with it that I am happy about.)
I love the 45mm Pana/Leica m43 macro but the 25mm Pana/Leica 43 lens (using an adapter) is my favorite lens for the GH1. (Even with the weight on the front - too big to use on the GF1) I love the IQ and especially appreciate the speed and aperture ring. I wish Panasonic did this with their m43 lenses. The 25mm has become my default lens.

Yes, it does autofocus but the AF is noisy and not the fastest. To compare, it is just a bit slower and louder than the 20mm pancake to AF. Despite that, I still love it.

Plus, with the Panasonic m43 to 43 adapter DMW-MA1 adapter the aperture ring works on the GH-1 and when in MF it will trigger the focus assist when you start turning the focus ring.

Has anyone tried the Sigma 30mm f1.4? I am looking for a walk around lens for portraits that I can get a shallow dof and not be too shaky with handheld. I was thinking of picking that one up or the Nikon 35mm f1.8. (not sure which one would be better).
