Tokina 50-135 2.8

So I've been looking around for a mid tele zoom that would give me an extended reach without breaking the bank. Although it's discontinued now, I've heard great things about the Tokina 50-135 2.8--the only bad thing being a slightly slow AF.

Does anyone here have any experience with this lens, good or bad? I wanna hear some opinions before I go diggin' for treasure!

I love the 50-135 focal range and own a nikon manual that does this.

There is a sigma 50-150 but reviews on that vary.

I really wish canon made an efs 50-135

I did a lot of research on this lens and was super close to buying. I ended up holding off in hopes Tokina releases a better version 2 of the product. Did you loom at the reviews vs the sigma? The sigma generally won out although I won't ever buy a sigma lens again after my 50mm 1.4 front focus issues. It seems a little expensive too. You can get a brand new 70-200 f4L for the same money as a used tokina.

does anyone know if the tokina 50-135 canon mount focuses in the "canon" direction? i've been looking at photos of the lens online, and it looks like it focuses "nikon" direction.
