Time to sell my 35mm adapter and lenses?

Over the past few years, I've invested a pretty penny into a Brevis 35mm adapter and various Nikon primes for my HVX. I find that over the past two years or so, I'm not using the adapter and only on some occasions do I uses the lenses. Most stuff I shoot is with my Canon 7D with Canon, Tokina, and Sigma lenses.

So if I'm gonna sell this stuff, I know now is the time because the value will only continue to decrease. But at the same time, there are applications that may require shooting some things that the DSLR can't. So I'm wondering if Canon will upgrade their mid range cameras in order to resolve the common issues like moire and such. If that's on the horizon, I think I wanna get rid of the bulky rig sooner than later. And as far as lenses go, maybe it's better to sell all the Nikons and invest in a few quality Canon lenses for the long run?

I'd sell the Brevis ASAP. I managed to get only $600 for my MP2, flip module, 3 cinefuses, and a bunch of other stuff....pretty sad after all the cash that was put into that rig. However we used that adapter so much I figure we got our value...but prices went through the floor really quick. I kinda wish I kept the HVX that got sold off shortly after since I just had to pass on a few jobs where my friends needed a 2nd HVX camera, but the Brevis I haven't missed since.

If you like the lenses, keep them and buy EOS adapters. Alot of the Nikkor manual lenses are GREAT and outperform or match the Canon equivalent at a much lower price point. I'd keep the lenses you like, sell the Brevis, and buy yourself some new gear with it!

I haven't done any tests to compare the Nikkor's to Canon L lenses, but maybe I'll do that. I like having a few 1.4's for low light situations.

I am using all Nikon lens on my 60D and T2i and I LOVE the rendering of the lenses.
and I don't even have all the 1.4 versions, haha

Amazing how dslr's almost made these adapters obsolete...

But if you're looking to unload your Nikons, hit me up =D

if you dont see a use. get out before ALL The value drops.

but there will always be somebody out there who wants one.
personally after using a variety of dslrs, i really miss my old brevis/nikon setup. there is just so much to dick around with with dslrs, firmware hacks, hdmi defeating shooting modes, agc, no pro audio inputs, moire... blah, blah, blah...

yeah a dslr is smaller and generally better in low light and arguably "sharper" (but most conversations i hear complain about the sharpness)
personally id rather use the VIDEO camera i know and love (in any mode i want. and monitor out how i want) than have to jack with the kludge that is dslr video...

im considering selling my gh2 and going back to maybe a letus+nikon existence.

Well sell your Dslr then, I have seen a lot of posts from you where all you talk about is the drawbacks. Go back to a standard video camera, No One is forcing you to use a dslr. Personally every job has its purpose, if you need a video camera use it. No need to keep bad mouthing a dslr
:)

I was beginning to think I was the only one that felt the old style camcorder adapter was still worth anything. Heck I just recently grabbed a second camcorder dof setup. I still use my dslr's but like everyone else has said, their a pain to shoot with. Nows a great time to buy, I have seen the lets ultimate sell for 1,200. That thing was like 4,500 new.

vision_filmz, why is everything so personal with you?
THE WHOLE PURPOSE of a forum is to share information and experience.

ive NEVER once said that someone SHOULDNT use a dslr or a canon or anything else - other than a cobbled together broomstick jib once ;)
all i post is what ive seen, what i know to be if not an absolute fact, at least a reasonable possibility. and how i PERSONALLY choose to address those situations.

im not saying my perception is the ONLY one, but i think people who come here for information will appreciate hearing from all sides of the discussion. there are a LOT of newbie types here with intent to use a SINGLE dslr as their ONLY camera. and they may be thinking it will serve all their needs. yeah, maybe you and i can afford multiple camersa. but what about the young cat who cant?

some people here may work like you. and others may work like i do. neither of us has THE answer

I've got way too many cameras, including regular video cameras and DSLR's, but I haven't sold my Letus just yet. There's something about the ground glass projection that is really appealing to me, and while I don't use the Letus much it is nice for those rare jobs where I want good lenses in front of a CCD camera, or where I want to set myself apart from every amateur out there with a T2i.

I just feel that by now, the people at Canon know the gripes shooters have with their cameras and in order to stay competitive, they'll eventually make the necessary adjustments. So by that time, the lens adapters really will be obsolete and not worth much at all.

In general, I'm also just tired of the heavy and bulky setups, the time consuming calibrations, cleaning all the elements, dealing with the motor, etc.

At least, if a new DSLR comes out, my 7D will still have some resale value.
