I guess the main reason for starting this thread is to make sure I finish something on time. It's an extra incentive not to drop out.

I had an idea for timefest and got a location + most of the props. But I couldn't get the casting complete. I needed 2 actors one young, one old,
who could play the same character at different ages. But I wasn't able to find 2 suitable actors.

So yesterday I decided to make up something else but trying to use the same location and props. I'm not done yet but I'm positive I'll at least submit something to the fest this time and it'll have enough clock/watch shots in it so I can't get clockblocked :D

I'll add some temp info & stuff

it's not really a flexibale location (cant change much, not a lot of walking space, not much time to film there) but at least it looks good.

Cool looking grabs, but I do half to ask...

Does some poor soul have to run through the spikes in the last grab while they're closing in around him?:thumbsup:

no i started about 2 weeks ago and made a thread but I didnt have a title back then. Now it's finished and uploaded. it didnt turn out so well but as long as i finnaly enter the fest i'm happy.

no, but during filming I wanted to impale myself on those spikes :D

yeah it took me a while to get it so when i started over with a new story I wanted to keep the location.
 
I liked this film. Short and sweet and to the point. I loved the little breadcrumbs that moved the story along. No dialog, but it really worked.

The set hit the spot. And I thought the actor had a solid performance. Sound and music were solid. I liked the little DVX-user on the screen. I caught that on my second viewing.

Only critique is that it maybe could have used a little SFX during the warping, but it worked well without too!

Nice piece of work!
 
Yup, pretty cool movie. Short and to the point.
Loved the dolly shot in the opening.

Another thing I really liked was the music, it seemed to fit perfectly. The acting was good as well.

thx for the comments, i hope it was clear that the end is actually the middle part of the film and that the middle (beach scene) was the ending.

after editing i couldn't really watch at it obejectively and im not sure if this comes across.

Interesting.... I thought I 'got' it, but after reading the above....what?
Either way, I'll watch again and see if it hits me (maybe I've watch too many of these in a row today...time for a beer!).

Loved the opening dolly shot & the set was cool. Very well done.

I didn't get that completely but I did watch it kind of late. I did get the sense that I was watching things out of order.

That and he went back to my birthday. :)
And he did look relieved.

I'm going to watch it again. This was a very interesting entry.

Short and sweet. I was extremely amused by this one. The setup was great but then it ended abruptly. I see you had time constraints on making it so with what you did it worked. Great job.
 
this was a fun movie with a good set. Some of the set shots made them feel larger than they were and that is a good thing. Good job on a tight time constraint!
 
I really really liked everything about this one... Except I felt like it didn't go anywhere. Then after reading this thread...

No, I didn't quite get that, but now that I've read your post, I like it a lot more. It fails (probably for the millionth time), he starts drinking, wakes up on the beach and can't remember how he got there so he thinks he's traveled back -- but no, he just got drunk and passed out in the sand. Do I have it right? If so, shouldn't the date on the paper have been June 3rd (the next morning)?

The camera-work, the sound design, the music, the acting -- everything was great, and it actually had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see how it played out. I felt short-changed at the end, but that was because I didn't really understand it at first. I'm not sure how you could make it any clearer, though. Overall, really solid work.
