ALL: Time Date Stamp Placement

Hi everyone.

We now have the firmware in house to update the AG-AC130 and the AG-AC160 Time Date Stamp to a lower position on the screen. This does require a trip to Panasonic. Depending on which side of the Mississippi you are on call either the LA office 323-436-3503 or the NJ office 201-392-4081.

Thank you for your patience on this one.

Best regards,

Jan

AC130 Date Time Stamp?

AC130 Date Time Stamp?

Jan,

If I just ordered my AC130s yesterday and I know they are going to be shipped from Panasonic, will they have the new lower Date Time Stamp?

Thanks

Hi Jan! Can you tell us if this means other elements of the display are shifted around? Any chance you have a new display diagram?

Thanks for the quick response!

Hi,

If you look at the current display you have, there are basically 3 lines of type, if you will. Imagine that the stuff that is in the second line of type is remove for the duration of the Time Date Display function. That is the new location.

Hope that helps,

Jan

Great, thanks!

(a few newcomers to DVXUser were asking a couple of weeks ago about Panasonic's likelihood of firmware updates to address camera issues… we told them about past excellent responsiveness, but I hope they notice the beauty of this rapid response to the users!)

Oh… one more question, Jan… what does this mean for future firmware updates? Will all the current users have to have the cameras serviced before they can apply any future updates, or if we're ok with the current time stamp position can we skip that step, but still apply future firmware updates (ourselves)?

Sorry to be so persnickety, just wondering if I should make sure to do the servicing as soon as there's camera downtime…

If you choose not to have the Time Date Stamp changed. it will have no impact on your future updates. It isn't an in the path update, which is why it has to be done by one of our service centers. Other updates can be applied and the benefit can be had without changing the TD Stamp.

Best,

Jan

Jan,

Will the next batch of new cams have this fix already?

They better!!!!!!!!!! It just cost me $43 to ship the camera to NJ
and the guy, Alex, thought it may cost me $200 to get this 'fixed' but he had to check with "Japan". Not sure if they will charge me shipping back. It just feels like a raw deal if this will land up costing me $300.

It won't.

I talked to Alex and he does not recall telling anyone that it would cost an additional $200. It is a warranty repair, you pay for shipping in we pay for the shipping back.

Jan

Good to hear Panny will pay for shipping back. I shipped it to him earlier last week. He called me late on 12/05. He said it would cost $200 and then I questioned him why and then he said he would talk to "japan" and then he said it should be ok and I shouldn't have to pay it. If he doesn't recall... oh well... I do!

Well the camera back and TD is in a perfect spot!! . 3 day turnaround, as they estimated.
It only cost me the shipping to them, as Jan said. I'm happy. I'll probably pick up the 160 around NAB time period.
