three essential lenses for an action sequences

Was curious what lenses would be good for an action sequence think in link of - Power Rangers, or Ong Bak something like that - I am in the mood to experiment since i can finally afford something - thanks so much for in advance.

If I remeber my childhood, didnt they use zoom lenses for all their action shot, with a lot of zooms from CU to Wide to set the fight up and then stayed zoomed in for all the one on one fighting?

i think you're right about the zooms in power rangers. ong bak uses a lot of ultra-wides for some of the fight sequences. also medium and telephoto for the slo-mo inserts. those wides make action look faster because it looks as if he's covering much more distance than he really is

What kind of action? Fights? Explosions?

The go-to Michael Bay / Bruckheimer type lens is basically something long and primey, with as low an f-number as possible. Note that you'll want skinny talent in that case.

No, I think what StevenTimothy was getting at is that you'll have a shallow DOF with a long prime wide open. So unless you have skinny talent you won't be able to keep the whole actor in focus!
