I had heard this was in production. I'm not a huge Thor fan, but I'm giddy as a school girl at the prospect of an eventual Avengers movie (Man, if they have Frasier stop by playing Beast or someone in a Spidey costume I will literally soil myself)

But yeah, got excited about this after seeing Branagh is directing. I'm a huge fan of all his Shakespeare flicks, and I think he'll be able to capture some of what makes characters like Thor and Wonder Woman really work (that sort of deeply mythologic, very Greek/Roman traditional kind of storytelling -- for which Shakespeare isn't too far a leap from)

Good stuff. I'll be there opening night.

Somehow all I can think of is Adventures in Babysitting...

Holy crap I forgot about that. I remember watching the film on TV a couple years ago, and when that scene came on me and my brother were nearly dying of laughter at "Thor" D'Onofrio.

As for THOR, I really don't know squat about the Marvel Comics version, except for the fact that he resembles the Norse god from their mythology. Could be good though, and anything is better than them spending $200 mil on Spiderman 4.

Kenneth Branagh directing a superhero movie is a little bit out of left field, but in a really good and potentially cool way. Maybe he can revive Transformers and Terminator after THOR? Hey, they all start with a T.

Speaking of Thor, someone needs to make an epic Ragnarok/Twilight of the Gods film that takes the Norse mythology and sets it in its original time. Maybe there's a Lord of the Rings style trilogy in there somewhere? Granted, it would be similar in some ways due to Tolkien being influenced and borrowing elements of Norse myth for Lord of the Rings.

Uh, this still does not look promising...reminds me of the 80's Flash Gordon, and not in a good way--

THOR!

ah-AAAAAAHHHHH!

Savior of the UNIVERSE!

The horrible spic-and-span cleanliness of that image is making my teeth hurt.

I wonder why the armor on the Norse gods doesn't look remotely Norse.

Well, not really, no, I don't.

I like the cast and director but not sure about that production design, I guess they need something that looks right when standing next to Captain America and Iron Man for the Avengers? I dunno.

Where are Loki's horns???

At least they could have gotten Timothy Dalton and Brian Blessed back in action for this. Come to think of it, the dude who played Flash actually kinda looks like Thor.

As for that image, it definitely has an old school sci-fi vibe to it more than what one might associate with Norse gods. It kinda reminds me of the Norse myth sci-fi mashup that is the Xbox 360 game Too Human. In that one, the Norse gods were cybernetic ubermen (and uberwomen), that had to save humanity from the dark elves (which were actually robots). Its sort of Battlestar Galactica filtered through Norse mythology.
