This may sound odd... but i finally got an HDTV... GLORY.

Boy, you really have to read the fine print these days. Who would care if an LCD screen was backlit with fluorescent or LED or a Hamster with a little wheel? Its still an LCD screen you are looking at.

Because of the different properties each type of illumination brings,

eg LEDs consume less energy, last longer, less heat , are more compact, better suited for uniform light ditribution etc.

But I agree, that ad was misleading..

Plus the hamster-wheel system leaves moving radial shadows across the image. Plus you have to feed the hamster. Basically a dead-end technology.

It's a nitpick, but you're not really looking at an LCD screen; you're looking a an LCD image projected onto a screen.

yea i love watching the old horror classics.... some of them have such amazing photography thats lost on to VHS and such.....

Too bad Monsters HD is gone....

I love watching old Westerns. Especially John Ford Westerns...True Grit, beautiful...the Monument Valley westerns look badass....

Rick:

I produced the John Ford and the John Ford/John Wayne DVD box sets for Warner Bros. Not sure what the Blu Ray status is on both titles but the ones you really want to see on Blu Ray would be "How The West Was Won" and "Cheyenne Autumn", I beleive that both were photographed in Vista Vision and looked really good on D5, which is how I saw them in HD when we had the masters so I would imagine in Blu Ray, they would look amazing.

Fort Apache, The Quiet Man and She Wore a Yellow Ribbon would be incredible as well in Blu Ray but Ford's Magnum Opus is of course, The Searchers. Amazing in Blu Ray. Ford is one of favorites, I have produced docs and bonus material 14 Ford DVD titles.
