I know its been said a million times but, I am going to say it again...

I love being able to grab my video camera which also so happens to be a professional photo camera and be able to make money off of photos. A year ago I would've never thought in making money shooting a photo. It's just to convenient now not to.

This is why I probably will never switch back to a "regular" video camera again.

But on your blog it says you couldnt sell the photos. So where is the part where you made some money?

Sold one later today to a different newspaper. I was also just meaning in general. My 7d has paid for itself countless times over the last year from photo work alone. My hvx couldn't do that. Basically I am saying I love were technology has come...

yeah a friend of mine whose been a pro photographer for eons said i should start dabbling in the photos too, but its a lil awkward for me being that i'm primarily a film/video guy,but hey who knows maybe i'll test the waters, lol.

I know exactly what you mean, My D90 is paying for my D7000 and by the time the AF100 ships it would have paid for that also.

Great pictures too!

Do it! you got a great camera in your hand! I felt the same way at first and still kind of do, but it sure is helping me get by in these tough times.

Thought I would add to this thread but about me and my new 60D. I just got into video the beginning of this year shooting and editing for many of the professional freestyle motocross riders that you see on tv and in xgames. 1 year from now I would be so excited to see one of these guys in person, but by luck I met Mike Metzger, the pioneer of the sport and he has brought me under his arm and introduced me to everyone and I have progressed my video skills a ton the past year. My video camera was a Sony FX1, I bought the Canon 60D a little over a week ago, I have never shot photos with a DSLR, besides borrowing my neighbors to shoot 2 partys we had once. Well I went out to take photos with some riders 2 days ago, Discovery channel happened to be out there with all kinds of 3D rigs. Well it just so happens my first time actually shooting pictures besides just at a party.. I have them up on ESPN.com. Thought I would like to share, I love this camera and cannot wait to start getting into more things and learning more about it.

Here is the link to the blog that my pictures are in on ESPN. http://espn.go.com/action/fmx/blog/_/post/5630655/metzger-films-new-discovery-3d-network

That's what I am saying! Nice work man!

I dont have the 7D, but I have the T2i.
I do a lot of photography, wanted the 7D, but could not afford it.

Whenever I had some pictures, I looked them up on my computer. They looked not bad, but yet not that good. I wasnt too satisfied. I went in today to my schools large 27" mac computers to see how my pictures looked full screen. And was I blown away! The quality was... wow. totally speechless! I have a good computer monitor, but after seeing it on the 27" mac computer, I need an upgrade! I have been missing a lot!!!!

Just to chime in.

Recently went camping on Mt. Hood with a buddy. I've been playing with some timelapse stuff so I threw the 7D and a tiny tripod in my bag so I could shoot some stuff while we were hanging out in camp.

I ended up shooting a bunch of stills, video and timelapse. Here is a quick (and cheesy) look:

I probably could not have done all this with another camera. I really like these little DSLRs!
