This is my edit, feedback

This is my edit for a sequence based on a script. I was supposed to screen this in my lesson and get feedback, but wasn't able to.

I was wondering if you could watch this sequence that I've made and provide some feedback. Is the editing/rhythm good? Are there some bits that needed to be changed? etc. This is my first serious editing.

Comments will be appreciated.

My first observation..
Worst fake driving ever...;-)

In regards to your edit, the pace of their conversation is witty and snappy. As a result, I would have been a little more pro-active with my edits, cutting more frequently...occasionally overlapping dialogue (though, to be fair, that's a style choice) I also probably would of shot this with more coverage...more extreme Close-ups (but I don't know if you shot this).

Not to mention, your actors stumbled a few time. If you had any other takes...I would use those to cover the mess-ups—even if the angle isn't ideal. I'd rather have a slightly boring angle, vs. a sub par performance any time.

Thanks for your feedback.

Hopefully more people will see this and give feedback.

Well they're not really going anywhere... I'm assuming there's a reason the background isn't moving (looks like they were keyed in)?

Plus if she has to move the wheel that much that means she's a bad driver, and they would be jerking around left and right like crazy.

In terms of lights, whatever they are, they should be moving, especially if one is at night. Once I was part of a shoot where we mimiced night driving. It worked out pretty well, but we were 5 people on various moving lights to help simulate movement. Even during the day they pass by buildings, reflective surfaces, ect...

As for the script, well it's very dialogue heavy. I never like seeing that. Remember, think of visuals first then dialogue second. Film is a visual medium.

The background was there in the first place. It wasn't keyed. This was an excercise.

if this was an exercise and you are planning on shooting it for real, be sure to direct the driver to keep her hands steadier. Have her take note when she drives for real so she can mimic those movements.

It wasn't just an exercise. It wasn't for a project or assignment. We were tasked to film this sequence to get first hand experience of knowing what its like working for a real film production. The set condition may not be on par to a real film set, but it did the job for first timers. Time was limited and we were only allowed to film this particular script for one day.

Sorry I should've mentioned all this before.

although the driving is as fake as fake can be and sometimes the acting is little 'stumbled".... The sound is damn good for a first timer.

What do you think about the editing? Is the rhythm good? Are there some things that could've been improved? etc.
