They're taking orders in Norway

Danish: snak Dansk......

FYI all scandinavian languages (SWE, NOR, DK) are almost the same written, they only pronounce different.

... don't forget: "Snakke dansk" = "Speak danish".

And I'm Danish - so all of scandinavia is represented in here. Danish - no it's not just something you eat ;-)

Just for a quickie (all the other fora I've seen consist mainly of NTSC people)

How does people feel of the 25 to 24 conformity.

It's a biggie -;)
The "Can I noot shoot 24 fps, then this cam is worthless" or "Then I'll have to buy the ntsc version" statement seems to pop up everywhere.

But film to PAL and PAL to ntsc is very often done this way. (Speedup/speeddown to 24 fps, and iff going to video: adding pulldown)
And I do remember watching some American films on DVD where this hasn not bothered me too much.

So throw it at me: Why is this hell?

who'd loved to be part of the 24 fps community... -;)

I believe the 24 vs 25 fps thing is more of a Cinema-mentality issue than something to be really bothered with. Personally I've never been able to spot the difference between 24-25 footage.

I think that at the end of the day proper footage shot with the HVX PAL edition will be just as good as HVX NTSC edition and vice versa.

Now it's fair to talk about the price difference because there really seems to be no logical explanation to this gap, but then again there are alot of things we don't know about how the global market works....

Wow.. sweeds and Norwegians on the same page. I thought you guys fought and said funny jokes about the other. Atleast most of the sweeds I know pick on the others.. and then it seems the same with the Norwegians. You funny frozen people!
Sweeds joke on Norwegians, Norwegians joke on Finns and Finns joke on Sweeds.
Merrily round goes and everybody's happy and drinks some more!

Not so fun about HVXpal: dropped cinema framerate, downgraded 60p to 50p and upgraded price 20%. Way to go!

And the danes make jokes about both finns, swedes and the norweigans ;-) Maybe that's why we get along so great? Humor always helps...

Good times Ya'll. I'd like to make it to that part of the world. I tell ya though, if I never ever have that Sweedish salty liquor again.. I'll be happy. Forgot what it was called but it was aweful..

What's that other expression... Hey dor? Or something sounding like that. And finally, anyone in the Amsterdam? I'm hoping to make it to London again next year, and then up to Amsterdam. I'd like to be shooting some HD timelapse there.

And Gday from a Danish Australian down under. The good cheer on this thread is a nice balance to my frustration of PAL HVX pricing.

Yep, nobody has to make jokes about Danes, because their speak sounds so funny even if you don't understand a word...

So what should we do about HVXpal price?
Should we make a collective decision that nobody pre-orders and nobody buys it in march? And then we could check out if prices get a bit more decent in April?

Hey Toke, completely off topic, I know, but my dad was in Helsinki two weeks ago, visiting the Baha'i community there. He said what he really admired was how well everyone copes with snow.

Here in the UK (well, England, anyway) as soon as it snows for more than 5 minutes the whole country grinds to a halt.

Anyway, I think we should lobby for import duty to be removed from camcorders.

I´m not Toke , but we are used to the snow. I don´t like it much, but it´s there..
It´s like the rain in the UK..

You've got that right! I get so tired of rain! In fact, it's raining right now! :(

You should see L.A.!

A light sprinkle of rain causes traffic jams and car accidents all over the city!

Hardly any snow right now here in Helsinki. It rained a lot (water this time) last week, which melted almost all snow away.
So now we have ice everywhere. Little bit dry snow on top of that and hospitals get full of old people that fell down...
Yeah, most of people on this planet has never heard about winter tires on cars.
But in southern countries below zero temperature once in a winter keeps car repair shops alive...
It's amazing how even a bit of white snow makes scenery outside so much nicer even in the dark. Now it has been just black everywhere and I feel like hibernating would be the best way.

Back to the business; EVERYBODY, go to panasonic-broadcast.com's forum and scream and yell! Panny's European reps are really reading that forum.
