AC90: there probably won't be firmware updates.. but just in case a wishlist

Don't know if the AC90 supports SDXC cards bigger than 64GB...but I see 128 and even 256GB cards being announced...

If a firmware upgrade is required to use these cards then 'please add it to the list'....!

I have 2 * 64GB cards and at PS1920 50p it tells me I get 5h33m per card. So shooting serially I get 11 hours shooting which will be more than enough for a day. If you need to shoot them side by side as a back up you get 5h33m which I think is plenty and you would want to back it up out of the camera for safety. Do you really want to carry around 11- 44 hours of footage in the camera?

People have this discussion with still cameras with film you got 36 frames (more if you bulk loaded) but memory cards hold several 100 at a time. that is a lot to leave in the camera or loose in one go. I always tended to use multiple smaller cards. less chance of loosing everything though accident, malfunction or what ever.

It is the same with video It forces me to move the footage to a hard drive or at least change cards and move them to a secure location.

I have 2 64's and 2 16's. I tend to use the 2 16's the most. I know that pulling the cards in and out of the camera and the SD card reader will eventually wear the connection down, so might as well use the cheaper cards the most. Yes I agree a lot of folk will not even need 64gig cards. I did a 6 hour short and used less than 10 gigs.

I would just like confirmation that 128GB or greater cards "CAN" be used. And if they can't then having this on the firmware wishlist seems reasonable.

I agree with the points raised...your workflow will determine what size card (and what quality of card) is suitable for use...but it seems to me that is a topic for a different post/survey question.

Someone posted they stuck the 128 gig cards in and they worked. They did not say if they recorded up to 64 gigs and stopped though. 64 gigs is probably more than most folk shoot in a day, so I suppose no one may have tested the 128gigs for that. Maybe Panasonic, but who knows.

I am not sure if I understand this correctly BUT I seem to remember that the Pre-Record option can not be set as a constant option. When you set the pre-rec option it only applies to the next file you shoot. Once you end the first file and start a new file the pre-record will not be on unless you manually turn it on again.

I would like the option to turn on the pre-record option and have it stay on until I decide to turn it off

^ Yep. Pre-record is pretty useless on this camera because you have to sift through the menu every time to use it. It should of been at least included with the User Button options.

i was hoping to use pre record for football.
i got caught out doing timelapse my first time.started, noticed i had auto focus and iris, stopped and then changed those settings and hit record, not knowing it goes back to normal record when you stop timelapse recording.

would much prefer i have control of when a setting is used or not.

Sounds like a bug or error in the programming of the firmware. I would hope they fix that.

Here's what Panasonic said they did:
[SIZE=-1]Changed specifications so that PRE-REC was not removed by REC/STOP button.

Some people have said they want the pre-record function to work better so perhaps they fixed it.

I can't imagine this is the only thing they have done to the firmware. I suspect they have cleaned up other parts and fixed some "features" that were waiting to become bugs etc. However they still havn't fixed the Big One of having both the screen and the EVF on at the same time.
