The World Cup starts today!

Did you guys see the video where the North Korean fan tried to kill the Brazil fan?

I always wear my Chiefs jersey to the Raiders games in CA when they play, I thought that was a tough crowd, I have even been chased out of the stadium twice by gangsters but never thrown over the railing, not yet anyway.

1. Increase the goal size to 3 times its original size.
2. Add another goalie
3. Drop in another ball
4. Get rid of the silly offsides call

And I'll be sold on soccer.

(5. Get referees that aren't biased)

I'm pretty sure we're gonna invade Ghana!

Nah but in a way I'm glad they won, last African team left in an African host country. Gives the people of our mother continent something to stay excited about!

Watched a little of soccer today, may I just say the horns or whatever they are using sounds like a swarm of bees (audience in stands). Gawd awful. It's so freakin'
distracting, like shut up, I'm watching the game.

They use them in Mexico as well, so I don't mind them. They remind me of home.

I'm glad Ghana won. First and foremost, because I wasn't rooting for USA (¡Viva Mexico!) :D
But mostly because, like Jacob said, it gives Africa something to get excited about, and they deserve it.

Either way, Mexico is going to lose against Argentina. I hope not, but that's probably what will happen. So we'll be joining you guys on the bench pretty soon :(

So the US goes down against a country the size of Oregon... David and Goliath or what? I think they needed fresh legs in OT.

Tomorrow should be interesting (at the very least, geographically speaking):

Battle of Europe- England vs Germany

Battle of Latin America- Argentina vs Mexico

Let the Continental Competitions begin!!! :kali:

(Disclaimer: Mexico is in N America, Argentina S America, but Latin America works for the sake of the "Competitions".) :D

I think the thing that can be taken away the most from this World Cup is that Yoda was right... size matters not. And money too, for that matter. I mean, look at Italy and France. Granted, we're not taught to kick a soccer ball/football/futball from the moment we can walk like they do everywhere else on the face of the planet... so calling us Goliath is a bit of a stretch. But still... Ghana?

I guess better them than N Korea (who here thinks that coach is going to live to see the next World Cup?). At least it's easy to root for them from here on out.

Well, maybe a Global Goliath, if not a soccer Goliath, but yeah, the Goliath that couldn't shoot (or kick) straight.
But they did play fairly well, it'll be interesting to see if Donovan will be back in 4 years.
And can you believe, Ghana knocked (or kicked) the US out 4 years ago, too?

As for N Korea, did you hear they hired actors from China to pose as fans in the stands, since N Koreans aren't allowed to travel?
It's a shame their players didn't defect, I guess their families are the collateral.
