Yes. My First Love. In the mid nineties, I had dreams of shooting a film on this thrift store super 8 camera and a nagra reel to reel, which was like 40 times the cost of the camera. When I shot my first roll, I sent it off to Super 8 Sound in california. I can never remember being more excited than when I saw that roll of film projected. Although, it was just notorious "test footage". Anyway, thanks for posting chris!
 
Yes, thats very exciting, I have a Canon 1014 but just can't justify the costs to use it myself for a film, especially with how little I've used it, but I can't wait to see one of these shot on film!

I think I may have gone "War of the Worlds" here. I thought it would be a cool way to start my WestFest thread off. I couldn't really justify the cost either. I won't lie though, I have been tooling around pro8mm.com but after purchasing the gear that I have now, I can hear a "YOU WANT TO DO WHAT" from the boss. I guess that I have time to change my mind though!
 
Tons of places still process Super8mm. Heck Wittner in Germany will even cut modern stock to fit. Super8 Fuji Velvia is a thing of beauty.

My awesomeness knows no bounds. Never thought that I would quote myself. Really though, all the attention makes me feel special, maybe I should shoot on film even if its a complete disaster and moneypit!

seriously jealous now. When I was into still photography, velvia was by far my favorite film. Making a movie on it? Excuse me while I run off to fantasyland for a while.

Man I loved my 1014e! I used a Marantz tape recorder and layed down a pulse track and then used my Elmo GS1200 to resync up. When I got my first firewire card and non linear software (Ulead Media studio) I did a complete video edit of one project and then cut the film by watching my video workprint. It worked really well and was able then to project the finished film with a synced sound track using the Elmo GS1200.

I lost interest when Kodak stopped selling Kodachrome direct and eventually sold my camera. I still have my projector and it's really cool to see super 8mm projected. I never cared for it transferred to video, unless it was suppose to be a home movie or vintage look.
