The Walking Dead - Frank Darabont's Zombie Show on AMC!

I've thought this was really great so far. The acting in the second episode seemed to slide a bit, but considering the first was done by Darabont, I'm not too surprised the quality dropped a little.

Overall, I'll for sure keep watching.

Already renewed for a 2nd season, btw.

5.3 million viewers, biggest opening ever for a cable tv show or something like that. Zombies are officially a genre.

Having read 78 issues of the amazing comic, the show is sort of boring for me because I know the story.
It's tough to watch a movie after reading the book. But it certainly is a strong show.

I'm on the fence. Part of me loves it, but part of me wonders why they attempt some of the really stupid stuff they do.
I'm interested in seeing what happens next episode though.

Last night was pretty tense in spots.

Oh yeah by the way Mike, in the comic everyone constantly lets their guard down, resulting in many deaths.
so expect a lot of that in the show. when you have slow moving zombies, deaths usually occur from carelessness.
Hence people doing stupid stuff.

It's not as cerebral as Mad Men or Breaking Bad, but dammit, I'm enjoying myself. I'll stick with it for a few more episodes.

wow great first ep. i'm excited to watch the 2nd. my buddy was raving about...he was right. it moves slow sometimes, but the payoffs are worth it! so far so good!

I liked the second episode too. Tense stuff. And I liked all the new characters. I'll keep watching for sure...Pointless personal trivia, I worked with Laurie Holden on a friend's short film many, many years ago. I tried to make a move on her after wrap but failed miserably. Can't blame me for trying.

Sorry, Mark...looks like the success of The Walking Dead has impacted Breaking Bad--

This show is still a lot of fun despite some cheap stereotyping and storytelling trickery in the last few episodes. I think it's going to end up in the True Blood category for me, enjoyable in a shallow, pulp sort of way with occasional moments of greatness and occasional moments of silliness. Also, it doesn't seem like anybody is going to be safe from harm which should keep things interesting.

I can't get enough of the show. I love it. The first episode was brilliant. It has slipped somewhat in quality, but I think in time everything will work out.

(Though the whole redneck thing is getting a little tiring)

Last episode was pretty awesome. I like that the walkers hit close to home. They were getting too comfortable up there.

I liked that as well.

I was getting tired of the gang confrontation and was even more annoyed that it spun on a dime into something else.
Seemed tacked on in order to try a prove a point.

Still watching though so that's something. :)

Pretty good finale. Was nice to have a break from the zombies and Noah Emmerich's character was well written. I'm curious what he whispered to Rick in the last scene. I'm guessing either something related to the blood tests (non zombie related disease), or that he saw his buddy putting the drunken moves on his wife through the camera. The way the grenade was pulled out of nowhere, even if it was set up several episodes ago, was very hacky though. And the explosions at the end were pretty piss poor effects. A sloppy show but I'm enjoying it. There was some industry noise last week that Darabont fired all his writers before the next season, but that can only be a good thing, as the cast is good and the directing has been solid. Its the writing that needs more work.

I agree on those points Batutta

My son and I are loving it though; very entertaining and a nice ticking clock scenario for the finale. I'm down with season 2

The first thing I thought was "She just forgot to give him his hand grenade back?" But overall I liked the episode and the season quite a bit. Too bad season 2 apparently won't start until next October. I guess I'll just read the comics until then.
