I've never understood why science must be isolated from "other ideas" (don't want to close this thread down, so let's not make that happen please)... but who's to say that something didn't introduce the original matter into a "void". Choose any material you want and there are properties discovered through science and engineering, but nothing new is really created... only discovered.

So in my view the big bang/suck theory isn't so flawed if you add a little Chemical X... the "X-Factor" that remains unspoken here... which put the drop of dye in the glass of water and let the law of diffusion take over... which is one of the laws of this universe. Put a drop of water in a glass, or a drop of gas in a vacuum... the stuff will get around without agitation. So what initiates the big suck? Well, we aren't talking about water as dark matter... we're talking about frictionless relativity called Space... where we may be unable to grasp the forces at work over the course of billions of years, but that doesn't mean it isn't happening.

I think it's reasonable to look at any star's life cycle and see the universal potential relationship there... oscillations? Maybe... one way or another there is a balance of expansion and compression... so that full collapse equals both... where you have an ejection of a major mass of the star, while you also have a compression which often results in a black hole... which is really a black "ball" for those who don't know.

So I think it's a reasonable assumption to say that we're living in the shockwave of that initial (or perhaps latest) event... and that there's still some incomprehensibly dense ball somewhere at the universe's true center... and it's got all the time in the world to wait for that shockwave to run out of kinetic potential.

Or... you guys could just admit the problem of time-house gases and stop hurrying everywhere.

I was once taught that the job of 'science' (Physics, Chem, Bio, etc..) was very simply to explain "How", with topics like "When", "Where", "Why", etc.. left to other disciplines (History, Geography, Religion, etc...).

And I agree at this level, as the human mind losses the ability to comprehend or rationalize, we do tend to look 'outside' traditional physical science into for the the answers to those questions.

But those reaches are indeed beyond the scope of the universe which is DVXuser as well.

Hold a grain of sand out at arms length facing up at the sky, inside that single grain of sand are 3,000 galaxies and each one has 1.5 to 10 BILLION stars in it.

Makes you realize how small we are.

I don't remember what I had been talking about to him. I think I was explaining to him the concept of solipsism and I went on for about 15 minutes.

He responded with, "Yeah dude that's pretty tight. What if like... our thoughts were the opposite of what we were really thinking?"

Some people are just not able to contribute to an intellectual conversation. I don't hold that against them. You can't, really. The inability to comprehend something isn't their fault... Then again, a pseudo-intellectual response probably isn't the best course of action for them to take. :bath:
 
here's a thought, roughly related to all this...

Conservation of matter: matter can be neither created nor destroyed.

But how does that apply to time? Technically, if a time machine were invented, then entering it would transport you to another time. That means that you would physically cease to exist in the current time, thus destroying your matter on the timeline - even if only to relocate it somewhere else. Of course, this violates the conservation of matter. And yet, wormholes are readily accepted as being possible portals to other spaces and times. Isn't this impossible though? For that matter - pun intended - what about black holes? The matter that is sucked in must be emitted somewhere. The matter might cease to 'exist' but something equivalent must replace it, such as energy. The emittance of energy then is still only conceivable as having matter attached to it. Think... radiation, light, electricity, etc. all are composed of matter, albeit "special matter". But even photons are captured by black holes. So what happens to the matter?

Two possibilities. There are "white holes" that emit matter, either directly from black holes or in perfectly equivalent proportions to black holes (the grand coincidence, as it were). OR... matter is impermenant. It can both be destroyed and created. In that case, what creates it? Pure energy. Ahh, the Big Bang. But where was that energy concentrated from? Would it not be conceivable that the Big Bang was nothing more than an overfilled super-black hole?

Think of it this way... Assume that white holes (which are already theoretically possible) emit matter on equal propotions to black holes, possibly through a linked relationship. As the universe contracts after indescribably long periods of time (don't forget, the expanding universe means there is no center of gravity for all matter. The expansion won't simply reverse. the energy will slowly dissipate and stillness will reign supreme for durations much longer that can be expressed by our number system) these white holes and black holes will draw nearer and nearer. What happens when, at the center of things, the matter from white holes is instantly absorbed through black holes? Logically, the whitehole would be absorbed by the black hole. But the white hole emitts that which the black hole absorbs. If white holes propotionally emit the same as what the blackhole absorbs, then the emission of matter approaches infinity, just as the destruction of matter (and assumedly the buildup of energy) increase towards infinity. Only the two opposing infinities hold each other in check.

Talk about an energy build up. As I see it, this interaction at a level of indescribable energy-action potential could result in an event like the big bang. When the infinite cycle can no longer maintain itself, a breakdown of the system results in a massive explosion in which the energy itself so rapidly expends itself that matter is recreated. "But there is finite matter in the universe!" Well yes... the infinite cycle would cease as soon as the explosion either separated the black holes and white holes or destroyed them entirely, resulting in a staggering, but not infinite, amount of matter and energy freely expanding into emptiness.

But what do I know? I just make movies.

Heh. I get in little debates with my teachers often because the state board of education still requires them to teach material that is 80 years old (e.g. denying the fact that there are "sub-states" of matter like Bose-Einstein condensates and superfluids, etc.).


I'm not nearly as pretentious as I'm coming across right now though most of the time.
 
lol you don't come across as pretentious, just curious. don't worry though... high school is just a stepping stone to much greater things. Don't get too stuck up on its fallacies or the frustration will give you an ulcer, haha.

There are no boundaries but in an amazing quirk of nature, the further things grow apart, the closer the the edge of beginning they become.

Black holes don't destroy matter. They collect it. - They need no "white holes" to emit that matter to equalize.

A black hole is simply a collapsed star that has become so dense that it's gravity overcomes everything around it (including photons). You can't go "through" a black hole, but rather you become squashed in with all the other heavy matter in the center.

Hmm, Solipsim, wait for my book, I logically demolished that concept, and as far as I know I may be the first (within my approach anwway).

Heh, finally someone thinking the same thing as me, sadly to answer it, would move outside the scopes of DVX.
