Toy Cat to Woman Morph - Take 2

Well, at the suggestion of other forum members, I reproduced the effect using a morph instead of the complex fade setup. Actually looks better than I anticipated. See it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nESH-KW-Aqg

I first tried WinMorph, but that software sucked. I tried 2 others. Then I came across Morpheus Software at http://www.morpheussoftware.net/ and triend their "Industrial" version, as it accepted input directly from video.

Needless to say I was impressed and purchased it after using the demo version to make the test morph. It is really user friendly, easy and simple to use.

When this effect is used in my movie, there will be a real cat morphing into a woman dressed in a half-cat half-woman constume.

I have done some morphing like this and I think it would look really cool that only you subject changes and not the background seen in the clip you posted. This is fairly simply you could either shoot it on a green screen or you could put some reference dots on the background to keep it from changing as much

I tried putting some reference dots on the background, and it did help some, but because of the angle and sizes of the toy and the woman some movement of the background could not be avoided, and the total effect got worse, not better when I did.

When this is done in lights and costumes the positioning of the "actors" and the background will be much different and easier to get the necessary extra fixed reference points to minimize the background shift. A Green Screen would be nice to have, but I'm still buying more high priority items like lights and mics. I don't exactly have a Hollywood bank account or budget - smile!
 
theres a pretty neat morphing program i have lying around here somewhere. i think its called "gryphon morph". but from what i remember it does a great job of morph effects if you spend some time with it. do you plan on using the effect in a film?

That software has been discontinued, according to a link I found through Google. Yes, I plan to use this in a film, but it will be with a live cat and a costumed woman, and sitting on a sofa.
