The Tokina 11-16 or Sigma 30mm?

I'm finally ordering my Canon 60D tomorrow, but I can only order one lens with my purchase. I'm not getting the kit lens but want to order either the Sigma 30mm or the Tokina 11-16. If I get the Sigma first, I'll get the Tokina a month later and vice versa. Which one should I get first? I know they are two completely different pieces of glass but which one is more capable of shooting a music video with by itself?
 
As your only lens, the 30mm will be more functional.

But I would find it to be an interesting test, only using the Tokina for a while, sometimes limiting your perspective to unusual ranges can give a cool perspective while shooting.

For lots of modern music videos it is not uncommon to do lots of UWA shots, but you wont get the other common trend of shallow DOF, as the tokina has a max focus distance of like 6 ft before infinite I think...
 
* the samyang 35mm f/1.4 seems to be better than the sigma; no autofocus, though, and still not available in bhphoto, in any brand name (samayang is also sold as bower, opteka, rokinon, etc)

* if you don't have another lens at hand, the tokina 11-16 will limit you big time; which, as natums said, is not necessarily a bad thing, specially when you're under a creativity block

Ok so I got the Sigma. It seems to make a really loud noise when auto focusing during video mode, the noise is picked up by the camera. Should I be focusing manually anyway?
 
you should take the canon 28mm f/1.8. It is a much better lens. Unless you shoot in the dead of the night 3/4 of a stop won't make a difference.

Or, for near half the price, the manual nikon nikkor 28mm f/2.

Let's keep the tone positive, folks.
You may not find Norman's charts relevant, but many of our members find them very useful for comparing sharpness and optical curves. Yes, it doesn't measure the "look" of a particular lens, but that is entirely personal preference anyway.

The 60D autofocuses when shooting video? Where have I been?

I don't mind using the autofocus for 'prefocusing' with the 7D if I forgot my loupe/monitor/2x power eyeglasses.
 
I used the Sigma 30mm f1.4 as a rental. I loved it more than I love my 50mm f1.4 and I love that lens. I also own the Tokina 11-16mm. It's on probation. When used wrong it makes the world look sick.

One lens on a music video? I'd go with the Tokina. Only if you're going to keep your camera for a while. It is EF-S.
