No not crazy. Use that function quite often. Hit the display button and lose everything except the safe area and center cross markers. Pretty useful I find. Surely this is possible on the FX6?

Nope, not possible. I've literally had to build custom ALL FILES for all three of my shooting modes, one normal one (with essential display info displayed), and a second one for each mode that strips back everything except the Marker/Framlines, record tally light and time remaining on the card.
Because (for some unknowably stupid reason) Sony insist on covering half of our frames with display data, this is a major flaw with the camera. So here's hoping the at least add in a "marker only" display mode via firmware soon.
I ran into a worrying problem today while working. Suddenly I got a cannot record message and one of the cards showed 0 min. As I only recorded a small amount of clips I had to check and hit thumbnails. All clip thumbs turned up black!
I started recording on the card in slot B but after a while it to couldn't be recorded and I got the error message cannot record. These cards are Lexar SDXC 128GB UHS-II and fast enough. But this time when I tried to turn off the camera the camera was locked and I had to remove the battery. It went on for a while even after rebuilding media so I put the FX6 to rest for a bit and used my A7R3 to grab a few clips. When I picked up the FX6 after 10 minutes it worked again and it did ask me to rebuild media and no clips were lost thankfully. No slowmotion just regular UHD.
This is to bad if I can't trust the FX6. After the shoot I went straight to a store and bought a Sony Tough SDXC card just to be sure it wasn't the cards that screwed the camera some how. It could also have been me triggering this by swapping lenses or changing settings in a particular way.
The thing is last week I ran my FX6 for 3 long days without a hiccup with the same cards recording long takes almost until the cards were full. But I didn't swap lens just used my 28-135 and today I used three different lenses.

J. Brown, Do you turn the camera off when changing lenses? Did you change lenses during filming? FX6 powers on really quickly - I believe - so this should not be too much of a pain to do.
This is really stressful to read about- I suppose for the time being it might be necessary to record out to an external recorder? One of the things I was really looking forward to about this camera was not always needing to rig it with an atomos device. Has anyone else run in to this?
Not at all ... and I have a personal dislike for L.... cards ... Sandisk or Sony at this point without a hitch ...

Well, that's a bit of a downer then! Should be fixable in software surely?
Sadly as much as I like the FX6 it doesn't really fit my bill. I still get a fair bit of broadcast legacy request for good old XDCam 50-Mbit 4:2:2 1080i. Yes 1080i is still alive and kicking especially for live sport, current affairs etc. Also no S35 center crop or even S16 for shoots where my B4 lenses are called for. If I need the FF look I can always go back to the Speedbooster using that pseudo-FF look. Bookings would have to pick up considerably post this current Covid thing to justify a jump to the FX9. Maybe sticking with the FS7 and A7/Z90 combo for a while methinks.

Hard for me to believe that swapping lenses could cause such a problem. That would be awful if it did.
If the camera worked after a rest, then it might have been heat related? Heat of card or of camera? Was it hotter on this shoot than on the previous shoots you mentioned? Either way, maybe your camera is faulty? I doubt 2 separate cards would simultaneously fail the same way

I did hot swap lenses. This might be a fluke or a serious issue. I’m shooting today also so if I run into the same issue I will try the Sony card and maybe do more lens swapping to see if I can trigger this again.
During the years with my FS7 I had a handful of the camera locking up and one time a problem with XQD card failing to record and the camera locking up. But this was during 6 years of shooting.

I guess maybe if the camera writes metadata including the attached lens, then swapping a lens might foul up the file formatting? Even that seems unlikely to me, since it would probably note the Lens either at the beginning or at the end of recording. Any camera that gets fouled up by hot swapping lenses needs a firmware update imo. In any case, it would be good to know what the heck is going on.

I only mentioned it as early on with the Canon Cinema cameras there were a number of problems and glitches which seemed to be related to hot-swapping lenses. Can’t remember the exact details now.
Also, when you pulled the cards were they hot, I mean like uncomfortably hot?
