The RED team

I was hoping for a little more detail about the specific team members, particularly from the camera development perspective. That was one of the things alluded to in the pre-NAB p.r.

hey Noiz2. Your mom called.. The rock you been living under for the last 4 months was just stolen.

:)

Well, I'm a sound guy so it's more like the Nagra I was stuck under. I'm guessing this is a camera, and I probably shouldn't have pressed the red button... I knew I should have taken the blue button, damn.

But since your up on things what's happening with V4 of Soundminer, now that IS exciting.

Now I know where I went wrong...I got my diploma.
{what am I talking about? read on}

It appears that James (Jim) dropped out of University.
So did Steve Jobs of Apple from what i read. (another company that I like)
{infact I can start listing people, such as from hollywood, who have no degree.
Also, all my wifes cousins have degrees and are not successful as far as "independence", but one cousin...he dropped out of a famous financial univeristy in Budapest & is a successful owner.}

I like to think I went far not having a degree.(just a diploma)
Upon leaving school I went straight to Europe as an Art director (not having learned art in school), came back to the U.S. and became a Sr. Producer over New Media & Broadcast, and now I am semi "retired" at 32 in Europe. (Part of it was motivated by a dream to do motion graphics.)

Enough about me...my point is this, Jim, Steve, etc., how did you pull it off? Im definately not a business man. Any advice on how to get billions so I can make my own toys? :)

Seriously, I am impressed, and wish I could better understand the business side of things.

Peace

dalen

Jim and Steve are small money when compared to Bill and Paul who dropped out together, even spielberg (another drop out, but I think he returned and completed a degree) has more money.

in the hi-tech and entertainment industries, degrees don't mean as much. and that's where alot of the richest people right now made their money

as for the team, looks impressive, but I'm wondering how big the company is and how far are they from have all the personell they'll need for the production of the camera

Great team! Names with well known CV.

BTW, Frederic Haubrich (and not Frederick -- it's a french name!) is the director of "Tomorrow is Today" so much appreciated here despite the usual hate to FX1/Z1 in these same boards.

pianoman

"Tomorrow Is Today" reminds me of Pianoman. Pianoman was big news in Europe, especially France. Fred must have been inspired by the real life drama. Most Americans never heard of Pianoman, because European news is not covered by the American press.

It's interesting you would mention piano man for more than one reason.

First, TOMORROW IS TODAY was inspired by a suicide note from the piano man himself, Billy Joel who wrote the note before drinking furniture polish to try to kill himself. He eventually made it into a wonderful song called "Tomorrow is Today"

Second, I made a documentary a few years ago called "The Six String Man" about a homeless street musician in San Francisco. His story was very similar to the Piano Man you are referring to in France.

The piano man's story reminds me of the film Shine with Geoffrey Rush.

We have just learned that the film is in competition at the Montreal International Film Festival in August... It will also be at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in August as well and a few more later on.

Picture is locked (for good this time). Total runtime is now 98 min. Finishing the sound mix in LA and doing our first transfer to HDCAM 1080p24 Wednesday.

Our world premiere will be at the Rhode Island Internation Film Fest (in HDCam) and then in competition at the Montreal World Cinema.

Waiting to hear from Deauville... If we're in, I'll meet you guys in Amsterdam from France. Don't eat the chocolate from my pillow if I'm late!!!!

He is successful no doubts on that. His passion and lifelong hobby is camera's. Some people still doubt Red will provide something very special.

A man like that will not accept anything other than something very special even if he has to spend a few more million to make it so IMO:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
