FEATURE: The Park - (comedy/mockumentary) - A Matt Sconce Film

Just watched the trailer.

Looks like progress on production fronts for you guys.

On the overall trailer, though, I don't get the movie at all. There're so many tones and vibes going on, the music's making it seem like a super dramatic experience, but, there are gags and slight nudity, a bear.

I'm just on the outside glancin' in so I can only say that the trailer doesn't do much for me, personally, and looks like it needs a new pass to really drive home what the movie is about.

The bear stuff is pretty money!

You have to pay attention pretty well to the initial text informing the viewer that what is seen is film of 5 groups being followed for three days before the Firefall is redone for the last time. As this is an initial trailer, and not an official trailer, your kind critique is noted and appreciated.

Right. Even with the text, with my brain turned off, I didn't get it. But, if it's not an official trailer then I guess it's all moot, anyway. Thought that it was the "trailer trailer".

Saw you mention feature number three already. Looking forward to more info on that!

I had a blast shopping The Park at the AFM. I think I have found it a home. I will also have some big announcements about it and other things soon. Check out our new demo reel here:

There's the old complaint about how there's so much content being produced these days, and so few ways of monetizing it, distribution is fragmented and it's hard to get mindshare. So there's tons of product that will never find a paying audience. And an equally old cry "how can I get my stuff to stand out from the sea of product"? People get depressed when they consider the odds based on such numbers. But I guess the answer is equally old, memorably expressed by Quentin T. not too long ago: make the product so it creates a big wave. That's always true. Measure yourself against the competition, and don't worry about the numbers. And that's why it's nice to see demo reels such as Matt just posted - if you do good work, you don't have to worry about standing out. Congratulations! I saw this reel and it was just the pickup I needed. It really inspired me, it was a welcome boost of energy and hope, and a reality-check. Thank you Matt, and I wish you much success - you are an inspiration!

FLASH! Aftershock Studios just made an agreement for guaranteed distribution of our films! Matt and I are so excited! We are unable to share the name of the distributor yet, but suffice to say, we now have the ability to sell our films and solicit investment with the guarantee of sales distribution for all our films. We will be able to begin selling the films when they are still in production. This will allow us to raise funding for many projects and even contract to parallel produce more films in the future.

THE PARK will be completely distributed! Wow, from a borrowed camera to a vibrant production company. Thanks to all DVXUsers for your support and encouragement all these years.

We are into post VFX for the film formerly called THE PARK. We have renamed the film:
FIREFALL - An Epic Family Adventure
We changed the name to bring it higher up in the alphabet and also to reflect the story in a more accurate fashion. The film will be sold in the Berlin film market and then at Cannes. We have been very grateful for solid investment in the finishing of post and have all our deliverables taken care of. I can hardly wait to see the final product, and have been watching Matt Sconce tear up the effects on TERMINATOR II our company computer. Interestingly, we needed to put 9TB more hard drive space into the computer to handle the post.
We are continuing to write Emma's Cookies, our faith based family film, to market MAGIC and NODES scripts, and to finish FUTURE POO, our romantic comedy. We have four scripts finished and ready, with four more being written by us and others. That's the news from Aftershock-land.

To all our DVXUser friends, hope all is well.

Kind updates Mr. Gary! Looking forward to this FIREFALL.

I really hope you meant 9TB of harddrive space and not memory. You guys are rock'n.

FIREFALL's red carpet premiere was EPIC. 1030 people turned out to see the movie and ABC, NBC, and FOX turned out to cover the event. Aaron Hill from Greek and Glee, came to see it and Del Weston, the founder of the Action on Film Festival, drove up as well with the director of the festival Nina Houlihan.

I was excited to see what people thought of the movie. hundreds and hundreds of people I did not know had come out from the community after reading about the Premiere in papers or seeing me on the news so it was my first (Not just friends and family) showing. We introduced a few people and then one of our leads proposed to his girlfriend in front of the entire crowd. She said yes, and with that, we started the movie. It was a raging success. Below are comments the audience members wrote down. Also attached are some pics of the night. The movie should release at the end of the year or the start of next year on DVD. I would love a limited theatrical run as well. We shall see. Onward!

What a rocking night! The theater we used for FIREFALL An Epic Family Adventure was a 1948 art deco beauty that was last owned by Mel Brooks. The CREST sat 1030 folks in style and with a 40 foot screen and 5.1 surround sound, the stage was set. We promoted some friends feature GOLD FOOLS before our film, and gave time for other distributer friends DIGI-DISTRIBUTION to talk to the crowd. I bagpiped songs from the film, a lead actor Brett Prieto proposed to his girlfriend, (who said yes) and the movie began. Many of you know the joyous feeling of having a crowd absolutely love your film. All the gags worked, and others we were not sure about worked as well. Some of the jokes had such long laughs that they ran over other gags... a nice problem to have!
We had such a talented cast (110 people, counting Matt Sconce, the Director and myself) with no weak performances. The score was EPIC!!! If you need a score that will be award-winning and exactly what you need, contact James Mierkey on facebook. He is John Williams or Howard Shore before anyone knows he is, well, John Williams or Howard Shore.
World renowned photographer David Ashcraft, who played himself in the film, printed out our posters as actual HD photographs, 40"t x 27"w, and we raffled one off completely signed by the entire cast. We have been staggered by the kind and helpful reviews from many who saw the film. FIREFALL was so fun to shoot, and we had even more fun watching a gigantic crowd laugh until they hurt at the premiere.
We are working toward theatrical distribution at this time and hope to have the film FIREFALL domestically and internationally distributed by March 2013 at the latest. FIREFALL is, for us, done and working to create profit in our distributor's able hands.
NEXT for AFTERSHOCK STUDIOS: We still have MAGIC out there being shopped to the big boys, and have high hopes for that award winning script. NODES, a science fiction script is done. PEST CONTROL is finished and at Action on Film Fest in competition as a script. EMMA'S COOKIES will very likely be funded in the near future as a faith based film. EVERWHITE, a thriller is on my screen behind this window as I post being cleaned up for final copy. We have many other scripts in various stages of completion.
Thanks to our DVX User friends who continue to support us. All the Best, Gary. www.aftershockstudios.com www.magic-the-movie.com www.firefallthemovie.com

We have had some big movement recently with FIREFALL. The MPAA rated it and now we are headed toward WIDESCALE theatrical release. A test release happens in a Michigan theater called the M-89 the week of October 12th and a California Release is at the end of this year. Fun times! Here is our Theatrical Trailer:
