The Panasonic G1HD | GH-1 Video Mode : A Real Video Mode

Yep, I'd be very interested in seeing that. In theory it sounds like there could be a noticeable difference, but in reality there might be or there might not be.
In theory, my vote would go to the first hypothesis, in reality on the latter one ;-)

LoL. Passive wishful thinking, Emanuel?

Off-Topic: we're thinking about taking order of a Red Zoom. Yes or no? hehe

Yeah, that's whaT I thought as well. With things changing so fast I'd hate to see it lose value so very swiftly.

Can do plenty with what we have now, anyway. Sidetrack done! LoL Sorry

I got the english manual from Philip Bloom.

I found this interesting

"When recording fast-moving subjects in the "FHD" setting, some afterimages or distortion may be particularly noticeable during playback"

To me the 1080/24p mode is very reminiscent of shooting HDV, and what I mean is that if there is a lot of detail and then you add quick movement, the compression struggles to keep up and you can lose detail. Is this a deal breaker? I dont think so, I have seen some incredibly beautiful HDV footage.

I still have the feeling though that if someone had the know how, this camera would be an easy hack- andromeda style. But thats all just a guess on my part.

It's like we're both from the same state or something.

In the meantime, L glass (with Birger on the RED ONE or coupled to the 5D Mark II all the way -- great camera <EDIT> for the buck) or the 'beautiful' Nikkor 14-24mm (PL remounted for $10K) or yet the Duclos' also PL remounted Tokina 11-16mm. Or then, the 18-85 ( that's not Sigma! :D ) but not for run 'n gun. LOL </EDIT>

I'm quite satisfied with the versatility of the L 24-105mm -- f/4 in FF is something.

Ma~n I want that 14-24 so bad. Dream kit:

11-16
14-24
24-70
70-200 or 80-200

Whaaaat? Rehoused of course. That goes for any camera.

I stated that I stil thought the Mark II had the better lowlight performance...

I realize that I am STILL on the F4 zoom now. Good grief, I can't wait until my damned contax adapter comes in.

That night footage is insane. And to think, just last night I light a face in pitch blackness with an iPhone, camera @ 1000 ISO and it was awesome.

It's so on when I get my adapter.

If you want to strip out the pulldown out of HDV or AVCHD 24p-over-60i footage, ideally you'd be using an intelligent tool that understands the chroma problem and properly reconstitutes all the chroma information.

Are there any tools out there that can do this currently?

I like it! Hopefully someone will mount one on the roof or hood of thier car and (not through the windshield) and go drive through LA at night! Sunset strip is begging to be shot at night with this cam, night lights, chrome reflectons from the harleys etc :) he he he

You got it.

They are referring to ghosting. This is what happens when you don't remove the pulldown from 24p wrapped in 60i footage. FHD is the 24p mode.
