The Official "Next Fest" Idea Submission Thread

RevengeFest sounds good.

WTFfest sounds like a get out of jail free card for making a bad movie and MockFest and ComedyFest seem too restrictive, since they are genres unto themselves.

WTF fest is just watching the film then after watching you say "WTF!?"

There were some genres I wanted to try for the next fest but wanted to see what the theme was first and talking revenge, I can definitely do! Let's please do revenge fest!
 
ok fine, revenge fest! That does leave the door very wide open for interpretation too - could be just about any genre and revenge for just about anything. RevengeFest!!
 
If its revenge fest, I already have a script (that needs some tweaks - but nonetheless). Decided I wanted to enter again and really push it.
 
I'm not so convinced about revenge fest...

It doesn't restrict to a genre, but it pretty much dictates the story. I feel like we will see too many similar stories. It is not as open as Questfest or Lossfest or All Hollows fest.

Just my 2cents.
 
That is a valid point, not quite as open as previous themes, although I bet it can be taken and examined from some interesting perspectives, so while it could work maybe there is something better out there, lets hear it.

Of your list, I think the "All Hallows" is the only one where 'any type of story would work, even with the theme being 'all hallows''... Loss fest implies a story about 'loss',
whether its your Red Rider BB gun, or your soul... (or would that be for All Hallows...). Quest sets a story line as well, something/someone/someplace/somestateofmind is to be sought...

Revenge is just a stroy line theme in line with Quest and Loss...

As a note, since the next fest would be around or perhaps a bit later than Halloween... I could see an amalgamation of the two themes...
 
I for one would really enjoy a Revenge themed Fest. I think its a terrific idea!

Not much scope for creating uplifting fun films without using a very wide latitide of the definition and probably not meeting the spec.

Revenge would thus define the feel of the film as well as the actions needed to fulfil it.

PayBack fest would work better as it allows for revenge and justice, as well as much more besides.
 
I actually don't want to watch a ton of revenge flicks. It will get old fast.
It needs to be more open than that.

What might be interesting is a first time dual theme. Maybe Revenge/Forgiveness.

That way we don't know what's going to happen until near the end of each entry. Might keep us guessing at least.

Judging by this revenge thread that idea probably won't work. :)
 
How about Escape Fest?

I think it's rather open. From the very physical escape (from prison for example) to more metaphoric escapes.. (escape from a situation, feeling, relationship... etc).

Any thoughts?
