The official "I got my AF100" thread

Heavy G, thanks, that's great information. And i've used it before, especially to setup my marshall. I know my Marshall monitor is calibrated, but there is nothing to calibrate on the LCD of the AF100 save for brightness, contrast, and color.

Well Kevin at Access AV came through again for me (AccessAVNH.com), I just got the AF100 today and I only ordered it a few weeks ago. Support your local dealer.

I will start setting it up with the NanoFlash tomorrow. And test all my lenses (mostly old Canon FD and FL's).

The drive back from the store was bad 3 cars (all 4WD) were off the road, lots of blue and amber lights on I93 northbound. Only an inch of snow but a little ice underneath plus everyone has forgotten how to drive in snow, and there are no banks to keep you on the road yet.

I was careful with the new baby in the back, and we made it fine.

4WD/AWD sure can help you move around better in adverse conditions (with the right tyres of course). Doesn't help anyone stop any faster though - usually the opposite since you're going faster (in snow/rain/mud - not in general).

Glad to hear another AF100 found a good home.

Holy Batman! I just converted a 2 min. (365mb AVCHD) clip with Neo Scene....it's now a 1.3GB .AVI!
Looks like a few more drives will be in order.

Good stuff though. I compared the AVCHD and Cineform tracks.....I can't see any difference, both look & run
smooth as silk in Vegas Pro 9. Nice.

I dont post much here - just read and learn. Was starting to think how over-the-top nerdy you guys were waiting like little kids before Santa's Christmas arrival. I pre-ordered in November and now I simply cannot wait for the AF 100 to arrive by UPS late this week or mid next.

I resurrected my old but pristine Nikon 50mm f2 prime and ordered an adapter from Fotodiox. Now a 16 gig card and I'll at least be able to make pictures next week. Okay, now that the fever has set in, how do I ingest AVCCAM into FCP? Online tutorial anywhere?

We just got ours today. Ordered it from Shawn at Full Compass, and he was unbelievably helpful. If anyone is looking to order any gear I definitely recommend him.

Won't be able to use it until next week because I'm shooting a short this week, but I'm looking forward to using it.

Humbly, thank you Cory :)

Please welcome the new addition to ZazaCast Films....

Time for a little experimenting & playing.... very impressed so far!
:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Ok Za, so when should we expect to see some delicious footage of anything?!

UPS is an F'n nightmare when importing anything into Canada! Nothing but a pain in the *ss - so much so that if I can't get shipping by another carrier I'll buy somewhere else…
I know this doesn't help you, but maybe someone else can avoid the shipping h*ll that is UPS International. Even USPS / Canada Post is faster easier when shipping us->canada.

How much duty & brokerage fees did they nail you for? Am thinking to buy from BH..

finally, my first video camera.. i will probably get to shoot some footage tomorrow, all i did today was learn and test my stills lenses. i have the nikon N series 24-70 2.8, i would love to use with this camera, but it does not have an aperture ring, anyone know how to keep the lens open, i tried opening it on my d700 but it closes right after i take it off...

I think it's really amazing how quickly we can get things from one part of the world to the other now.
For giggles while waiting on my AF100 I ordered an inexpensive chinese made 7" monitor with HDMI input.
3 days latter it was delivered to my front door in the U.S. from mainland China.
If we could just get clients to pay this quickly all would be good.

Amen to that!

How does the monitor seem to work? I'm looking for an inexpensive solution.

Haven't really played with it yet as my AF100 is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.
I'll need to order a 12v regulated D-Tap cable with the proper connector for the monitor as well.
I have been playing with the idea of using an HDMI splitter to feed a small on-camera monitor as well as a larger LCD for client preview, which keeps them from crowding around the camera. That would also keep the SDI out free for use with a recorder/monitor.

All the Best!

Dave
