My sources are saying that mid January 2013 is the aim... which probably means it'll be February or March before you see any in the wild!

The model names and approach also jive with what VERY little leakage I could find via Google. But I have to caveat that what I found was rumor, not fact from source close to Sony.

BTW, I'm guessing a few people have noticed a striking similarity with the timeline of this cam compared to the F3. Barely teased April 2010, cat out of the bag November 2010, shipped end of Feb 2012. Widely available by NAB.

I seem to hang onto cameras anywhere from 2 to 3 years (since 2005, anyway), so predictability on Sony's part is much welcomed in this case.

Going from a Red One to a F3 in my case, I seem to have traded a camera that works well while shooting (proper EVF + AKS) and typical Red post hassles for a camera that has some difficulty adapting while shooting but a easy, fast post.

Here's hoping the next one gets it all wrapped up!

Imagine Codecs are a thing of the past ... anything that was available before now is adoptable to ... the NEW F's ... and about frame rates ... anything available till now (except Phantom etc ... ) ... now included ...

I only have one strong hope... that either camera will not have the same motion as F3/FS100/FS700. If it's F65-like in that regard, then well...

I cant' afford either anyway lol. But Sony is really trying to stick it to someone!

On NDAs-- Not that I don't understand, but it seems like companies want leaks these days. If you're going to announce something, announcing the announcement is a sure fire way to have all of your info leaked before it's scheduled.

Not defending leaks! I wouldn't want someone to spoil when I propose to a lass I love? Just saying.

I love the F3 but not handheld. A few months back I almost picked up a used one. Heck I also almost bought a Battle Tested Scarlet this week. I have the itch! Really hoping it's the next generation F3 and not a gap up filler. Heres hoping for a ergonomic F3!
 
Wow, the form factor on the new F looks amazing. I like how it's not too tall like the C300, so it can fit into a backpack with a lens on. Also, way better than the C300 on form just because the LCD is attached and not separate. It just looks more compact as well.

Plus the specs... Just WOW. But nothing I can afford.

Now we just to hear more about the 4K option for the FS700

Someone can't even post a joke photoshop without folks taking it seriously, re-tweeting it without context, giving it credence...
 
don't worry... at first I thought it was real... until I reread the specs... same with a friend he sent me an email saying he didn't like the form factor... then a minute later sent me another email... saying he caught it also...

Ned, this thread has been growing like wild fire and I doubt that every post is even being read.

What's of more fascination to me at this point is if, or should I say, when this thread will hit 10,000 views?
