"The Lost" a film by Rylan Zolinski

Cool title work. The music is drowning out the radio. Sign could have used a tad of light. It's dark - is that a woody truck? Murderer!
Walked into town to get gas. Needed to show the truck actually run out, not just a low gauge. Again very dark, maybe too dark.
Not a fan of the bobbing run&gun follow camera. Knocking on door. Again the music is too loud and drowning all else out.
So a person was in the window, he went to knock at the door, then, it's too dark to see but it looks like he is going to another house?
Water drops on the lens for chandelier shot. Don't understand the cut from the kitchen table to a bunch of candles. Is that the same kitchen?
Where'd the candles come from? So a vamp got him. Hmmm ... I'm not sure if this could be classed a story or more a day in the life.
There was no conflict. I would have recommended less time driving and walking and more time on story. Give us a reason to care about the future vamp food.
Still, not bad. Keep up the good work.

ARGH!!! That droning music playing on loop drove me batty and then to sleep. I literally drifted off and then opened my eyes up to a fridge full of blood sacks, ugh! The story itself kinda just droned on from one scene to the next. I didn't really care and the guy didn't seem to care either. Then a vampire gets him. Hone that story and pull us in.....and get someone to do the score for you! No more loops! Keep at it!

It's a five minute short but nothing happens for 2 minutes into the film. Just driving, ominous music, some radio talk for exposition. Take another near 2 minutes for the guy to walk to find a place to get gas. Nothing is really happening. Driving and walking is not entertaining. The ending, most predictable.

Such a great interesting setup and then it kind of peters out in the end. The visuals were great. You had an opportunity to create a huge amount of tension and suspense when he got to the house. I think some POV's of the vampire watching the main character might help. Next time though. Keep it up.

The daily realties of life, being so close to something so big and the talent that resides within, if one does not use it, its lost. The can was an interesting way to introduce red, which could symbolize smaller beats of a heart. This character died along time ago, he introduced us to his life, which he gave up on, we can see that by his dress and not caring just walking into another’s home, he was not looking far gas, he was in search of a new life or just giving up. Films are an expression, its not always going to be an amusement ride with a beginning middle and end. Films live, learn from them and grow.

Quick Review

Ryan - those opening moments, the title on the window, driving shots - those really took me somewhere.
