This was really cool; my son and I enjoyed it and look forward too seeing more. I was lost in your world.

Awesome.

I'm delighted that you like it. It has been pretty hard work getting this out as we are two that is doing the most stuff on this. Can not afford the talent yet.

We have shot the first three episodes and begin shooting episode 4 and 5 next week.

Dre, only the female is adr.

Just arrived home after the shooting of episode 4 & 5. Went absolutely perfect. Feels a little weird not having time to touch the material for so long (feb and march release), but meanwhile we are busy doing the post work on ep 2-3 so it's not like we do not have anything to do.

Anyways, here are a few ep 4-5 stills exported from the video files. Enjoy!

The footage is looking good. Watched the first episode. The first zombie attack was pretty good. Seemed like there was something on the lens for a moment. Makeup looked great. I think the score could be a little more powerful in spots. Either that or the sound design. I feel the attacks could use a little more oomph.

Some things like the guy falling asleep when he sees someone through the rifle or the zombies doing no damage during their attacks are a little tough to swallow. Especially with the tied up woman.

Looks good though and you are off to a great start! I like the lead. I'll check out the next one when you post it.

Cheers,

The world you guys have been able to create is amazing. The wardrobe and locations coupled with the vfx is so top-notch. I'm definitely learning a thing or two. The story, however, seems very, very slow. I'm sure this is building up to something though and I'm looking forward to seeing it. Nice work! Keep it going.

Just watched both episodes. Really great.

The only thing i would mention is some of the dialogue in the first episode is really hard to make out. I had to constantly rewind to try and catch what he said. Especially the male dialogue in the hanging scene.

Also I believe the second episode sounds alot better than the first.

Anyway, keep up the good work. Looking forward to the next episode.

Yeah, the sound was something we made an effort to improve over the first ep.

And thanks for the kind words everybody.

Hi, now is our fourth episode up at: www.thegreatdying.com

Some pictures from the episode.

The pictures below is posted in an earlier post but belongs to this episode so here they are again..

I watched it.... trailer ep1, ep2.... in trailer you forgot about 5% safe area if you want to broadcast it.... (the lenon's motto)

I'm verry impressed with the light... it's cool... the static shots also are cool, but you can use a motiontracking (pan/scan etc.) to little move/dolly the picture in postprod if you have no dolly at shotpoint....

ps. i'll be waitin' for new episodes.... maybe some more 3D/VFX postprod.... ;)

Thanks. I had a diy dolly for a couple of moves but it didn't work that good out on the field. I used it on one shot in the second episode though. The "Are you dead yet!" shot. Anyway, I decided not to use any and instead have static shots which once in a while goes into a handheld scene(without shaking the camera deliberately).

I am not a huge fan of post dolly shots, though they obviously can be done well.

But in the fourth episode I actually have a post made camera move, a tilt/pan though. The shot when Sam hits the first attacking ghoul in the head with his axe is actually composited with two shots. First the actual axe action and then the throwing away of the undead turned dead. When editing I decided I didn't want to do it the way I envisioned it on set, where I intercut the shots with another shot. It just didn't work very well. So I cut the two shots together, being roughly the same angle, and it worked much better. So I opened Shake and panned the first shot in the same manner as the actual camera move on the second shot. Then I painted the two shots together so that they blended nice. It works great, but when going frame by frame you'll notice that his arm are posed somewhat awkwardly. :cheesy:
