Hi everyone, so this is a student film I wrote and directed. First time director. I welcome all feedback. Thanks for watching!

Care to tell us anything about it? What equipment was used, lighting, methods of shooting, issues you faced in production, how color correction was handled, etc.?

Yeah sorry I didn't put that in first. Basically the script was for a class project that could only be 3 pages long, 2 characters and 1 location. We shot on 7D with Zeiss primes, and for lighting we used the available street lights in the parking lot and rosco lite pads (battery powered) for inside the car. I wanted the handheld look and I am really happy with pretty much all the shots except one :) Sound was done with a Rode mic and h4n. We shot the entire thing in about 3-4 hours. Post was though FCP w/ sync sound using plural eyes. Color correction was very minor as we got pretty close with the look in-camera but I used Color for a few adjustments in contrast, to add grain, and ran it through bleach bypass. Issues with production would be things that I had to cut out. Originally the character with the mask had voiceover narration in the opening, middle, and end of the film but unfortunately it didn't turn out as I had hoped so it was cut. Partially why there is quite a bit of silence in the opening and end of the film, it was meant for VO.

really nice look.

I dug the acting to.

Massive attack music is a little cliche but it works here.

My biggest complaint was the 20 second intro animation which was way to long. Thats long even for a feature, but for a 3 min short, its almost offensive.

Other than that, nicely done.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated...I agree about the logo, my school requires us to put it on but I might remove it.

I really enjoyed that, man. I liked the camerawork, and the coloring. I'd have to say my one "change" would be to eliminate the shot of him pointing the gun at no one. By the time he looks outside and sees no one out there after finding the key, people SHOULD have realized it was just him. I DID really like the shot where he looks into the rearview mirror and sees the other guy though. I really liked that shot a lot. It was subtle enough, but strong enough to catch.

Hey, thanks man, I'm glad you enjoyed it. What's funny about that mirror shot is that it was shot with a completely different purpose (but I didn't end up using it at the opening part) and after showing the film to my class i had to work in ways for them to get it. That mirror shot that I had just happened to work perfectly in the situation where he looks up. The one where he points the gun at no one i feel is redundant also but i took the word of people who thought it was necessary. It's really tough to edit something you wrote and directed because you know the story so well and you might skip over something that others would absolutely need to understand the story. I think it may work as a quick flash rather than how long it is now. Anyway, I really appreciate the comments so thank you.

I also really liked this film. For a first time director I would say, 'wow.' You had good directing, acting and editing. When the guy throws the other guy out of the car I would add some sound effects of the grab and especially him hitting the ground. I also agree the opening logo was too long, but I bet the school made you do that. Anyway, nice work!

Yeah I never thought about adding some sound effects there...that would really help that part out. I'm gonna play with it when i get a chance. Thanks for the positive feedback!

The sound (recorded dialogues) is good....

It's normal it sounds like inside a car because it's inside a car :-p

The opening of the driver's door... As Marlon said also...the guy falling

The end I don't realy get....
