The EOS 60D has been announced

Great feature set. But Still waiting on better codec or better sensor to reduce or eliminate rolling shutter. Still happy with the 7d though.

What they need to do is add an audio adapter similar to a battery grip with xlr and manual audio dials that work seamlessly with digital audio readouts on the camera display.

Still Digic 4, glad they announced this before the end of the month. 7D is still in my sights for a purchase...

For what? A flip-out screen?

The 60D looks fat... in a good way.

Ergonomics (7D style button layout, including the wheel vs. buttons)... BIG cam (7D size)... top LCD screen. All for $300 more.

BUT... honestly... that was probably a gut reaction. I just spent the last hour scouring everything I can about the new 60D and aside from ergonomics, here's what you get over the t2i;

1) 5.3 fps vs. 3.7 shots (don't care about 1.5 more shots per second)
2) Wireless flash control (definitely WOULD have liked this one... use it all the time on nikon).
3) Top LCD screen... use it all the time on my nikon shooting stills.
4) vari-angle screen (would have liked this too).

Hmm... so whatever... actually... I'm mostly back to not caring... I could return the t2i if I wanted to (within the 30 days still) and I DO like the fat body of the 60D... but I think I'm done with the constant hype of new cams and just enjoy this one.

I'm a little surprised that after all that talk about a new DSLR that was specifically optimized for video... that it really was just a vari-angle screen.

Where does it say this? From the specs to me it looked like it did have AF for video...

If you compare ALL the specs... not counting ergo, again, of course... but video focusing, etc?

It simply looks to be a bigger cam with several ergonomic improvements and conveniences... but little "real" improvements over the t2i.

Hmm....you guys didn't see this feature?

"An external stereo microphone terminal and the ability to adjust sound recording level ensures the audio track recorded matches the visual quality of the video, capturing broadcast-quality sound."

I'm not saying what that means, but I think alot of people have been asking for sound improvements. Anywho...

Benefits over the T2i and/or 7D:

-Flip out screen
-0.3EV ISO adjustments (aka in between ISOs)
-Live histogram during video/live view mode
-Top display LCD
-More buttons, dual wheels
-Larger Body if those who like that

My maths on the screen says that 7d, 5d etc have around 300k pixels as do some monitors

(307,200 pixels/921,600 dots)

this says 1000k pixels

My experience of shooting with off the screen, using nothing, or a decent finder, is that I cant focus with 300k pixels

if my understanding is correct - which it may not be - that screen is awesome

buecause you will almost be able to focus live

for RnG therefore this would be the best VDSLR on the planet at the moment because not carrying a SmallHD and breakout box and Vlock batt system would be a big deal

Downers..
No HF plug
SD cards
