Newb here with brand used dvx100b, looking at purchasing the the dvx book and dvd combo. I know absolutely nothing about this camera other than its obvious features. I need to learn how to manipulate this rig the the fullest. My Q: is would this book/dvd be the best start or is there something else out there that you guys would recommend? Thanks in advance.

Thanks..............I was fortunate enough to trade my DVX for an undisclosed amount of Garbage Pail Kids, and a 1 year membership to the jelly of the month club. I was also able to participate in my first special needs orgy. Life is full of unexpected treats. Cheers!

Yes, the book and DVD are worth it, if you want to get the most and best out of the DVX.
Read and watch them, then ask on the forum if you still have questions.
Try used on the Marketplace.

And good luck with the Kids, jelly and orgies.
I think there's books and DVD tutorials on them, too- not by Barry Green, though.

That book is awesome. I thought I knew eveythng there was to know about a dvx 100 from my advanced video class in college and the manual, but that book had some good info.

I'm having no luck on the forums tracking down a used copy at a fair price. Send me a message if you've got one to sell!

+1 on that - great resource. Set up an eBay search for it - if it gets posted you'll get an email. Try Amazon as well, tons of used book dealers sell there. The DVD shows you visually what a lot of the more esoteric settings do, but it's not as necessary as the book, which is priceless.

Hey i just received my dvx book in the mail from b&h photo, and it looks like the older edition as it only says dvx100 and 100a in the title. Is the newer edition that much different? Should I return this and ask for the later revision? Or are the differences minimal? What would you do?

You definitely got an older edition. I got my book with my DVX100b back in January '09, and the cover states 'dvx100, dvx100a and dvx100b'.

Definitely worth reading, too. Like many people have said, you don't really know how to use a DVX until you read the book.

You migh miss out on a few details. I would try and snag the new one, just so you know how to use the 20-something new features the 100b comes with.

A fair price is probably $40 because of the value of the material. This isn't your typical used book. I certainly wouldn't part with my copy for less.
