The 7D Custom Function Menu

I did run a search on this, but didn't find exactly what I was looking for.

What are the best settings on all the sub menus in the Custom Function Menu if you want to achieve a film like look?
Obviously I want to keep noise levels down with high ISO for outdoor scenes with natural light (even low light).

Not sure what other information about this project is usefull for that question, I just need someone to help me out with these settings as I'm not sure what all of them mean, and what the ups and downs are.

If you want to avoid noise, avoid high iso whatever the lighting condition.

High iso = noise, its a direct relation. I try to hover around the 400-640 mark and seldom go past 800. Better to just bring more lights.

Yeah I understand. I've got good, light sensitive glass too. 1.2 and 2.8
Still though, I'm curious about these settings just so I can learn to get the best results from my camera since we're shooting a feature.

anymore information on location?
Absolutely.

March 1st we got one scene exterior, late at night when it's very dark and winter. We've got a street light (I'm off to look at houses tonight and tomorrow and can post pics of it then) and can possibly set up extra lighting like an HMI or something.

In May, we've got some exteriors at night, mostly on a lit up bridge. Yellow streetlights, no extra lighting. Then we've got some helicopter footage also at night. We've also got two weeks worth of interiors where we can control the lighting pretty much as we want.

In July, we've got two weeks worth of exteriors with only natural lighting, some at night. Luckily, we're so far up north it's practically daylight AT LEAST 22 hours a day.
For lighting conditions in july, check out the exterior shots in our pilot below where the girl (Sandra) is riding her bike and sitting by the lake. Those were shot with the GH1 kit lens at around 2am and no extra lighting. We've now got Canon 1.2L II and 2.8L II lenses so lighting in July won't be a problem.

Hope that helps.
