SGpro flip module - pictures of complete rig

Im sorry I was actually referring to the flip...and asked was that all encased. When I had the Letus FE...it had a really hard time keeping that thing clean of dust.

Oh actually that's a good point if we're dealing with static mirrors now - yow! hadn't though of that.

I havent had a dust issue since i disected my letus ex. Then again I also havent taken it off the camera since then sooo yeah.

Kholi,
What's inside there?
Are there mirrors . What did the dust look like on the picture?
Was it sharp or out of focus smudges?
I want to know whart to look for.

sgpro shipping..

sgpro shipping..

I didn't noticed before on this forum, but anybody knows, what is the biggest reason for limited production ( long waiting) of sgpro-s??

Letus and others seems to cactch the orders more accurate..

Cheers,

Hi,

We have now increased the quantity of SGpro's manufactured each month, by January, lead time should be down to about 1 - 2 weeks.

The flip module uses a prism, not mirros, so dust can not enter since it is solid glass.

No mirrors. Dust looked like dust, especially when I got the tiny lil white fur hair thingy on it. It was pretty funny watching it jitter around all massive on my screen.

Warning: Do not take your Letus EX apart. I'm crazy and I take everything apart, so the dust issue was a NON issue, just one I made.

Can the module flip to the up position like the LE so the camera doesn't have to ride high off the baseplate? If so, will the SG rod mount line up with the rods. Develop some way so the camera doesn't have to ride high off the baseplate.

Because the SGpro's support system is designed with adjustability in mind, there is another config that is similar but a 'snorkel up' config causes problems without using 2 sets of rods.

OK guys,

Here is an image of the rods support configured in a manner better suited for the flip module. It is set in its most 'compact mode'.

Missing from the rig is a small shim that will connect to the plate and between the rods to connect to the tripod, allowing the rods to pass over the tripod plate.

And here is the same support set to 'extended mode', maximizing rods length.

Please let me know what you guys think...

Hi Wayne,

That compact version looks great. I like that the rods underneath the camera are free from any mounts. You could slide on a zacuto shoulderpad underneath the cam for going hand held.

Will these rails support both flip configurations and non flip? Or are they specifically designed for flip only camera height?

I don't know Wayne, My gut reaction is that the camera itself looks way out there hanging on that bracket . Makes me nervous and makes me wary of how stable it will be during moves, on long lenses, in the wind etc.

Is there a reason why its so far out on the bracket, Can't you put the rails bracket right underneath it or close to it?

Thanks. It is the same rods support, only adjusted differently. It is designed to do this :) You can only do this particular setup in a fliped config, though.

Lenny,

There is a good reason that the QR plate is set back from the rods clamp, this enables maximum rods length in the 'expanded mode' However, I mentioned that the support system is adjustable, the rods clamp can easily be moved right down close to the QR plate if you desire, but it is not needed, the rig is solid as a rock :)

Hi,

I have added to the post above both pictures, one showing the rig in 'compact mode', the other in 'extended mode' which maximizes rods length.

Wayne, where do you attach the tripod quick release plate, to the QR plate or the sliding rails block?

I like to centre balance my rig/quick release location, if possible. That can depend a lot on where I locate the external on-board monitor. Stair stepping the camera being raised looks better, imo.
