Texas

It's a picture of my handesome self! If you need financial advice bballplaya, come see me, you'll be helping to finance my next movie!

Bump to anybody who might see this. I'm trying to re-spark interest in the Texas users meeting now that it is Christmas time and people might be off of school/work.

Hey everyone,

I'm still interesting in helping organize this. However, i would like it to be a little more organized and content-filled rather than all of us just showing up.

Not to put you in the spot Mr. Sheets (but I will because I know you...:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) ) but do you think you might be able to find out a location to host us for a day?

I'm thinking we should probably wait till January or February and try to organize it a little better. That way it'll be more worth it for people coming from out of town.

How does that sound?

I say we start gathering e-mail addresses. I can compile it.

PM me with your e-mail address if you are interested in attending this meeting and if you have anything to contribute as far as content.

I'm no guru, but I can contribute with a Music Video seminar and Q&A about making music videos (attack plan, workflow, considerations, etc).

Sounds good! I'm somewhat of a beginner as far as the technical aspects of shooting are concerned, however if anyone's interested in learning storyboarding then I'd be happy to contribute!

Hey everyone,

Sorry, I've been moving and haven't been able to check this thread for a while. I'd be happy to try to find a place, although I'm still pretty new to Austin. My subdivision has a lodge/party room that I could reserve. That is if you guys don't mind coming out to Cedar Park.

cheers,
JP

That actually sounds great Jonathan!

So far I've received about 4 PM's with contact information.

Once we get a big enough group interested, we can start planning a date.

PM me with your e-mail address if you are interested in attending this meeting and if you have anything to contribute as far as content.

That sounds great, if you can reserve it. Does it by any chance have a large HDTV? I want to show off my A1 footage. :)

Texas meeting

Hi everyone,

I'll find out how much it would cost & availability. I don't think it'll be very much. I'll also find out about electrical supply/demand.

I'm happy to bring my M2 w/hard mount, though I'm still experimenting with it.

I assume a Saturday would work best for everyone?

cheers,

Jonathan

Hey everyone,

I've been doing some research and the Austin Studios rents out a screening and conference room for meetings like ours. You can check out pictures at www.austinfilm.org. I've been talking to Rachel in facilities and the rate is $200 for four hours. So if we can get 20 people, that's only $10 per person.

I'm going there tomorrow for the Austin screenwriters meeting so I can report back with a more detailed report tomorrow, but it sounds like a good set up. We can screen the short films our Texas DVX brothers have made, and run a few short seminars, i.e. workflow, Redrock M2, etc.

Let me know what your initial thoughts are.

cheers!
JP

dudes! lets just meet up at a massage parlor.... on me (yeah, all jokes)

jpsheets, I was gonna go to that meeting as well but I got a gig at the convention center that will prevent it, drop me a line jacob@roadwerkpictures.com and let me know how it went..... I been curious about those meetings

and concerning the user meeting, hordeprime and I are prolly just gonna meet up at a random bar and kick back a few brewskies and shoot the sh*t..... anyone wanna join? drop me a PM or email..... peace.

Hey, a bar sounds good to me! But seriously, I'm looking at some other places which would be free.

Went to Austin Studios this morning, and the facilities are nice. And if you guys want to screen your short films and/or footage then that would be the way to go. But maybe for our first meeting we ought to have that at a free location and have it a bit more casual.

cheers,

JP

austin studios would be rad for sure... if we can gather enough interest, lets do it

jp, how was the ASG meeting? very curious to hear some feedback

Some really nice folks there. Mostly we watched short films shot by their members, most of which weren't very good. But hey, who am I to judge? Not sure of the caliber of writing ability in the group yet. They have their second meeting Jan. 20 I think and I'll be able to find out more.

Heh, yeah, let's arrange a meeting at BoneDaddy's off of 183 ... have some brews and talk film. ;-)

That said ... Austin Studios sounds great, but for a first, free, casual meeting? Hmmm ... not too sure. How formal are you guys wanting to take this? I guess I envisioned the first meeting being pretty relaxed, rather than a "seminar" approach. Though ... I could be wrong about that. ;-)

I know Hoofandmouf and I are looking to branch out and get together part time film crews, etc. Perhaps we could discuss our upcoming projects and see what we can do about networking in the local area?

You Austinites can get together at a bar and talk film, that's fine, but if we are going to make this an event where people are going to drive from other parts of Texas for (Houston, Dallas/FW, San Antonio) I'd prefer it being more organized and content filled.

If you will PM me your e-mail address, I will add you to the ongoing roster of people interested in attending an event like this. Once enough people are interested, we can start talking about dates and costs. I'm volunteering to help organize this more 'formal' meeting with the help of Jonathan (JPSheets).

I'm down for a formal meeting for sure, especially if folks are driving from other parts of Texas.... we could bring some of our current projects or films to get screened, have some feedback going on... do some gear/equip demos.... etc

the pub meeting is mainly for the austin dvxusers

better yet, lets all just get hopped up on extasy and go to a massage parlor!

Aravance, sorry for the miscommunication. Like Hoof said, the "bar thing" was intended for us Austin people, not the people who have to travel.

The formal meeting sounds great!

Hi everyone,
How about a first informal meeting at Bone Daddy's off of 183? (Hordeprime's suggestion) This will give us a chance to shoot the breeze, and throw some ideas around about a more formal meeting. I'm thinking Saturday Feb 3. How about a 3:00 meeting? What do you guys say?

cheers,

JP
