Texas

DALLAS TX HERE. Would love to attend a meeting and learn things i still have not learned with my new hxv.

I'm from Austin and have a XL2. I might be willing to collaborate if positions (directing, camera, lighting, audio, assisting) were assigned before hand. I find when you try to collaborate with different people, all with cameras, everyone wants to be be camera operator or director, and nobody wants to do anything else and the collaboration crumbles and everyone walks away. This happened on the last two "collaborations" I volunteered for. No egos either please.

Obviously some people can do the acting too. It's all about getting practice. You're not going for an award. Just something fun you can just prolly throw up on YouTube. Share copies of the footage with each in the group and they can each practice editing it one their own, or pair up or work as a group to edit it as a whole.

Wow, ok im a new user and I just read through this whole thread starting more than a year ago. I use a VX2k and will soon be upgrading to a dvx(preferably in a week or so). But i would definately be down to meet up with you guys also. Im more of an amateur/rollerblading filmer and it would be really nice to learn techniques outside the "action sports" aspect of filming. So ill make an effort to stay active in this thread and input anything I can.

Hey all, I just moved to North Austin a couple weeks ago and this is just the type of thing iv been looking for. I have been working with the XL1s since its release but I am ordering a HVX in a few months, been long over due for a HD upgrade. Once I get my new cam ill be itching to get some footage for a demo reel so hit me up.

Does this group have a website? If not maybe I can throw something together where people can post crew calls, news, private forum, personal profiles etc.

Has anything collaborated yet? If not, why dont we think about organizing local groups then have an every other month meeting, even film competition between the groups... or something like that!! This way its a little more organized and chances are even greater the groups will get started. Just a thought!!

Great idea!!! Im joining.. but first there needs to be a plan with the groups and/or the site... don't you think.. or else we wont know what we are signing up for. What about asking those who are interested... what they want to get out of their local group; austin, dallas, houston.. best times to meet, location to meet, are they looking to be a mentor or looking for a mentor, whether they would like to take part in a monthly video contest/competition with one another in their group, and/or sister sites, do they have a dvx/hvx or other, their goals in the industry, etc., etc., Just a few ideas anyway. Should we start a whole seperate thread for this on dvxuser in this section???

I know keeping it simple is important.. but there really should be a plan...

In case anyone watches this thread and hasn't seen the thread for the All Hallows fest Austin meet-up: http://dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=107283

Am I correct in assuming that this Sunday is going to be the first official meet up of Austin DVXUsers organized through this site?

I hope to see everyone at Dolce Vita in Austin this Sunday!

Hey, Guys.

I'm down in Corpus Christi right now, however I may be moving to Austin in the near future and I'd definitely be looking to meet up with some folks and maybe collaborate on some video work.

Later, guys.
