Terminator Salvation

Same here. I love T2, but I don't think that the same tone in regards to the humor from that one will work if they try to shoe horn it into the future war era.

I'm more concerned with it being cold and mechanical, which seems to be underlying most of the reviews. The TV show was darker than the films, but you cared about the people. We'll see, but as per my original concerns, I don't have much faith in McG.

Like Frank Costanza, I like to go in fresh, so I'm avoiding reviews/spoilers. Maybe that's why I liked Star Trek so much: I knew nothing and had no real expectations.

The trailer is badass, but then again I remember getting excited when I saw a trailer for the Phantom Menace.

Good or bad, I predict this thread will be a lot longer than five pages in the next two weeks. LOL if it's a complete bomb......how can it suck, it has that 50' high robot?

That 50' robot is one of the biggest things I dislike about the new film. From what we've seen in T1 and T2, it just doesn't fit with the type of tech Skynet would build. All the other bots I've seen in the Salvation trailers look good though, so by no means is this over-sized robot going to ruin the film for me.

If there is anything that doesn't work well in this film, I'm betting it will be the script and the fact that it is done by this dude named McG. However, I'm going to go in open minded and with realistic expectations, waiting til I've seen it to pass final judgement. I guess this Thursday is Judgement Day.

While I liked parts of Indy 4, and Star Trek was overall a fun but flawed ride (not nearly as bad as Indy 4), both films taught me that you have to really be careful about getting too excited about sequels anymore.

Big=scary for me. I was taken aback when I saw it in the trailer earlier this year. If this is something that is going around harvesting humans, I think it's a pretty cool concept.

I can't believe I'm dissecting a film that I haven't seen yet, but it beats doing motion graphics on a spot for a law firm that I just can't get focused on. (or endorse)

One thing I like from the trailer is that the resistance is using A-10 Warthogs to do battle. Seems to add a touch of realism. Like at that point in time, they were still able to utilize vehicles and aircraft. (Oh, I like that and the motorcycle stunts. They look believable :Drogar-Love(DBG): )

Not boycotting this thread, but reading with trepidation until I see it.

Is it anything like the law firm in Breaking Bad from the episode "Better Call Saul" that was on a few weeks ago?

I have seen every Terminator Movie at the theater since number One. And I will there at midnight, good or bad. Rotten Tomatoes is usually pretty accurate, but sometimes the critcs get it wrong. I am hoping that is the case with TS.

It's definitely a must see...One of my best filmgoing memories is seeing T2 for the first time on the Sony lot with Cameron, Robert Patrick and Edward Furlong in attendance. I can't even remember how that happened. I think one of my friends in film school knew somebody who knew about the screening and we just showed up and they let us in. Wish I'd had the balls to go up to Cameron and say something.

Ouch, Harry Knowles took a giant crap on the movie. This is a guy that liked Van Helsing. Then again...this is a guy that liked Van Helsing, so maybe his opinion isn't too reliable--

I always like reading Harry's reviews (time permiting, they are all long) pretty colorfull guy. For the most part his opinion is pretty close to what I think.

Who didn't like Van Helsing? he he he

The link to the article on the main page reads:
Harry releases the review of the flaming turd he's clenched for 2 days: TERMINATOR SALVATION!

I like reading the reviews on AICN, but I disagree with them quite a bit. Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion, so no harm no foul. If a movie that I am interested in is soon to be released, I could care less what a critic says before I see it. Part of the fun is going to see the film and not knowing if it will be good or not. A certain sense of mystery is fun. Plus, even though most respectable critics try to keep their reviews spoiler free, by the nature of what they have to do there are always some type of spoilage of the surprise. I like going in fresh. Sure it is a risk, but so are many other things in life.

Van Helsing is the only time I've ever actually fallen asleep at the theater. Granted, I was kind of tired from a long work day when I went to see it, but even if fatigued I always perk up during a good flick.

Terminator ROCKED. I think it was better than Star Trek even. I didn't even know I was holding my breath until the action stopped. Then i was like phewwwwwww. The story had me guessing the whole time. Every time I thought I had it figured out it threw a curve.

This was great movie! I think the critics have this one wrong. Yelchin as young Kyle Reese Was spot effing on. He nailed almost every nuance of older reese. The way he spoke was dead on, you can tell he studied his ass off for the role.

I thought Bale was good as John Connor. He was pretty gruff and one note but If I lived like that I would be the same way. But make no mistake he was not the star of the movie. This was the Worthington show. I do agree with the critics on this one, He stole every scene he was in.

The action was spectacular and the special effects were fantastic. I loved the familiarity with the final battle scene. What is a terminator movie with out the Robot-in-factory-final-battle-scene. It really did not break any new ground and truthfully I didn't want it to. It felt like a Terminator movie to me.

The Bootleg-Arnold Cameo was brilliant in my opinion. People applauded when "he" appeared.

McG is now a very capable film maker IMHO. The film is not flawless but you can blow up stuff to hide those flaws anytime when I'm in the theater.

I say go see it no matter what Rotten Tomatoes puts out. I enjoyed it. If I had to rate it I would give it 3 out 4 stars or a B.

Now that is one hell of story. I would have punked out in Cameron's presence back then too.:crybaby:
