Can anyone with experiences chip in?

Does either the Sigma or Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 work with C100mk2 regarding continuous AF?

My Canon died on me and I am looking at cheaper alternatives until the new one arrives.

Can't comment on that lens, but the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM has been a solid performer when it comes to DPAF on my C100mk1s. I bought it as a stop-gap for about $200 and have been happy enough with its performance to keep using it. AF steps are smooth enough that I'm not noticing them in playback. Take note that the internal mic will pick up the focusing noise, so it might not be the best lens for documentary filmmaking.

I use a 17-50 Sigma on my 300 Mk2 all the time with various combinations of the AF the camera offeres. The Af on the lens is a tad noisy but focus wise its functionally as good as the canon 17-55. If the AF on the Sigma 17-50 was as quiet as the Sigma 50-100 Art it would be the killer doc lens.

Thanks for the replies guys.

In the end I went with a new Canon 17-55 since neither Sigma nor Tamron allow the full time manual focus override. This is something I use quite a lot while shooting handheld (turning of AF with button 7 on the grip and going manual focus in the middle of the shot) and from what I found out I'd have to also flip the AF switch on the lens if I wanted to keep shooting like this.

Literally just about to make a post about this lens!

I have the Tamron 17-50 and when using it with DAF on a C300mk1 it works for a few mins then gives a lens communication error!

Testing a Tokina 11-16 in DAF does not give the error so I assume it must be the lens not being 100% compatible.
