Dear all, haha.

My walkaround lens used to be Tamron 17-50 until I decided to try HDSLR and bought Canon 24-105 f4 (fell in love with the picture quality!). I know the Tamron is an awesome fast lens, used it for 2 years myself, but I can only have 1 walkaround lens. My reasoning buying the Canon is the IS, but I need a fast lens too. Should I stick with the Tamron, or sell it and buy Canon 35 f2 to pair with the 24-105?

Btw, I have the all-time favorite Tokina 11-16 and Canon 50 f1.8. I tried the Canon 50 on a monopod; but I cannot hold it stable enough without some sort of IS.

well, as you must know, they're totally different lenses... 24mm is not very wide on APS-C, but you have the tokina, so that's not very important for you - 105 is a lot longer than 50, and IS can be very useful, so that lens is actually adding a lot - the only downside is that around 24mm-35mm you're stuck at f/4 (at 16mm and 50mm you're covered) - maybe you'll just have to live with that: I'm not sure you'll find anything great at those focal lengths that sells for less than you'd get for the tamron (that 35mm f/2, btw, is not stellar by a long shot, even stopped down it's softer than the 24-105: http://www.the-digital-picture.com/...meraComp=453&SampleComp=0&FLIComp=0&APIComp=3) (the 24mm f/2.8 would be better, but it's not any cheaper than a used tamron http://www.the-digital-picture.com/...meraComp=453&SampleComp=0&FLIComp=0&APIComp=2 http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00006I53R...www.similaar.com/foto/equipment/us_lensc.html http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EXR0SI...www.similaar.com/foto/equipment/us_lensc.html)
