T2i + Sigma 18-250mm + XH-A1 Lens Hood

I don't have it yet. But from the spec, it doesn't seem it will do full HD although it takes full HD input. The thing for t2i is (from what I read) once the record button is pressed, the HDMI out resolution will jump to SD. So I don't really think I need to pay for a full HD monitor.

I will have the monitor in a few days. If everything turns out good, I might consider being a reseller.. then you can get domestic shipping and warranty =)

Hey MattinSTL! I'd read so many of your posts that encouraged me to get a GH1. Thanks for doing all the great work.

However, I was late to the game and the Gh1 I ordered from Amazon was not hackable. I want to like the GH1.. but Panasonic don't think that way... haha.. instead of getting 3 GH1, I got 3 T2i.

Dude, one thing I can tell you about me is I will ALWAYS call it the way I'm experiencing it. I'll never push something only because it's what I decided on and think everybody else should do what I did (to validate my own choices).

I think the t2i is a really nice cam. The GH1 doesn't do everything I want it to do, but the combo of GH1 + t2i does... and since you have 3 cams I'm sure you're covered. I'm not sure if some people just get lucky with exceptional low-light out of a GH1, but as far as I've seen (in my own limited use) the Canons are consistently good in low-light. The thing I didn't understand about this (the significance of it) isn't just the image getting darker and gradually introducing noise (through gain) in an attempt to keep the image usable... but, again in MY case, as the light runs out on MY GH1... there are specifically distracting elements that come into play (banding, or specific color artifacts)... that I would say are equally as bad as moire or aliasing in some other cam. So my intention is to try and use each cam within it's strengths.

If I only had t2i across the board, I would STILL do that... trying to avoid and/or work-around any issue if moire or aliasing popped up. As long as we all call it like we experience it I think the forum overall becomes more valuable... but it's pretty hard for most people to take their own personal bias out of the equation.

I'm really looking forward to the t2i... I'll have more invested in that package then I will in the GH1, but I intend to use and enjoy both cams. Peace with either choice I say... everybody acclimates to the luxury of what's now possible so quickly, while I remember fighting a brevis on rails all day, hating every minute of it... and now we're able to positively KILL IT on image and yet everybody argues all the little details... forgetting that suddenly, video got amazing for cheap.

Now with the Lilliput Monitor, the setup is ready to roll

Thank you thank you! Now add on top of it is my professional camera work and editing skill .. hehe

The Lilliput monitor works so much better than the SD monitor I got from LCD4video. price is about the same too. But it is HDMI input.. the only complain I have is, once the record button is hit, it goes blank for 3 to 5 seconds... I think I can deal with that.

I get the same thing when using many HD tvs and computer screens as monitors.

Just think of it as the camera getting to speed.

Hey I see you listed that flash bracket/with grip in your build/price sheet but I don't see it used in any of the pics. Do you use it all? How is it?

I have a t2i with battery grip and am looking for something like that for my RodeMic (which I'm getting from Jack's btw, so thank so much for that tip!)

Any chance you can take a pic of the t2i & grip with that flash bracket with grip? I want to see how it looks with the rodemic mounted on it and to see how close I can get it to the t2i body..

My goal is to keep my rig tight and compact..low/tight center of gravity..I was going to get the light and video bracket but it sticks to far out for my taste..I notice on your most recent pics you are not using it anymore but a more flat and robust dual shoe mount. What is that part directly on top of the camera that lets you mount two shoes?

I used my B-cam with the flash bracket. I actually like it better as it takes off the burden of mounting everything to the hot shoe. Here's some pics

I see no AGC work around. Or has the Trammel hack on AGC been confirmed?

edit:
I've been following this thread
http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=218686&page=9
and as of post #84 (latest) there is no confirmation that AGC is disabled

I have a Rode mic on each of the T2i. Then I also have a voice recorder with a wired lav mic hanging in front of the speaker. So the AGC situation is not too big of a problem for me.

Just finished another wedding in Chicago. The rig draws lots of attention in a good way. At church, the videographer from the previous wedding came over to say how much he likes my setup. Then the groom, guests, DJ, photographers all come by to ask question.

I'm vain.. so I like the attention but I found the setup a big heavy to carry around. Also the Lilliput 4 seconds blank screen gets annoying. I might have to lighten the rig.

:)

I see no AGC work around.

As I found out today when answering another question, this might be something to look into. I'm not sure how it would work exactly, but it sounds promising--especially with the DSLRs that have manual audio controls, even though it says it can disable the AGC in the other ones through a unique process.

Rather expensive though. :)

looks like a good replacement for the h4n... but i think i still prefer the h4n for its portability and the built in mic! but good to know this exists :)
