I saw this posted and was about to respond. I realized that this is probably an issue that is big enough to have it's own thread: What do you guys say?
...noone is asking me, I realize, but I think that the question (here on this site) of how to group the forum is obviously an organizational question. Here's some stuff to consider.
1. 7d owners: Do you really want to have your area of the forum FLOODED for the first 4-6 months of the T2i's life span? I'm not saying you do or don't...I AM saying that you're poor area has already become "over-run" with T2i pre-hype/wishing/wondering/praying/begging/pleading....etc. Is that what you want?
2. My camera is as good as yours BUT CHEAPER! NAH NAH NAH NAH NAH...(tounge hanging out) It seems like having us in the same area is just asking for ENDLESS bickering, fighting, comparisons....which is fine, but it might be better if people from another area of the forum HAVE TO COME LOOKING for a fight, rather than posting a harmless post in the T2i area that says..."hey look I think this is better than the 7d!" If it's IN THE 7D AREA...that's going to invite a 200 post RANT about why that's not true. I don't mind that happening...just not "in my master bedroom". 7d owners shouldn't have to have the T2i rubbed in their face. They know where to look if they want to know. Maybe another area would be good for this purpose? (maybe not....what do you all say?)
3. Finding answers from a group of people that are all learning together. It's great all of the info that the 7d owners have acumulated. It might be a bit difficult as a group of new T2i owners start learning about this camera and the 7d group all say...."old news...we already knew that!" That's fine as long as you were a part of writing it six months ago...a new T2i owner will have "old" 7d questions. (maybe not? ...what do you think?)
4. This new camera likely represents a NEW PERSON. Many folks have been standing on the side lines thinking....this would be fun, but 2000 is just too much. I think we're going to see a lot of new people with basic questions. I also think it will be someone from a different BACKGROUND than a 7d owner. Alot the 7d owners were 5d owners....professional photogs, aspiring film makers, etc. I think the T2i will have some of these, but probably a lot of ASPIRING HOBBIESTS. Meaning....it's a big step to try ANY of this. What's F-stop? (Is that when someone on the freeway slams on their brakes?) What's ISO? This doesn't bother me AT ALL. Do all of you 7d owners what to have your area flooded with this? (maybe not? ...?)
5. New technologies on the T2i that are NOT on the 7d. So when people have questions, posts, or comments about: VGA crop. Auto focus. Custom Auto ISO (Max). These need to be hashed out and explored. Do 7d owners want that in their area of the forum?
6. Google search/external searches. When the interweb is FLOODED with searches about the T2i....many will end up here. It will be HARD of someone who doesn't KNOW the similarities between the 7d and T2i...to find info. (Are they just going to magically know to look the 7d area? ...this would confuse me if I didn't know this fact.) I realize that CANON is calling the T2i, the "Baby 7d" already. That doesn't mean a new person searching for info on the web would.
I'm sure there is more to consider....but what do you all think?

1. Same question for both cams will be in TWO areas. (7d and T2i) (by shoacaholica)
So you think the T2i owners should have a new subforum simply because you cannot deal with the questions? From what I've seen, a lot of T2i video questions will have the same answers as the 7D. That alone would make one forum for both cameras a logical choice.

Isn't the point of these forums for answering questions? Lets see, theres now some confusion about AF between the 7D and T2i. If there were 2 subforums, that same question about AF would get brought up in both forums.
