T2i in premiere pro CS4

Hey,

Just curious what you guys would output the footage to instead of Pro-res for use with Premiere?

I'm just getting my t2i setup and looking forward to shooting some stuff next week. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions or tips on what they do to use the footage in premiere.

thanks!

With the next premiere update/version the new cuda technology will make cutting h.264 like it's nothing. If you have a nvidia graphics card, it will put all the load on the GPU and u won't need a intermediate codec anymore. Otherwise, you can try cineform, great great codec.

i have two Nvidia 275's in SLI so it should be fine in terms of power but from what the other posts are saying effects added to the files when rendered can look pretty bad...

i guess i'll just have to experiment. I only have a really old and slow 2 gig SD card at the moment so the camera won't let me record for more than a few seconds but i've got two 16 gig class 10 cards arriving on monday.

Anyone have any experience using premiere and footage from the t2i? Just want some second opinions. My SD cards arrive tomorrow. :)

It's the exact same as the 7D, right? So any of those solutions should work fine. You can look up the dozens of pre-existing threads on the topic for more detail, but basically you want to put it in an .AVI (since that's what Premiere works with best) and ideally 10-bit for best color fidelity. Cineform is worth a look for that. People have also been using Avid's DnxHD codec even though it's in a .MOV container.
